Our one-day tour to Montenegro was an absolutely wonderful experience, and Darko made it truly unforgettable! From the start, he was so warm, kind, and welcoming, and his genuine sincerity really stood out. He made us feel like we were spending the day with a friend rather than just a tour guide. The unexpected stop in Bosnia was such a special surprise and went above and beyond our expectations. Darko clearly cares about giving his guests a meaningful experience, and his kindness and passion made the entire day that much more memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide! If you’re considering this tour, I can’t recommend Darko enough. He truly made our day exceptional!

Prepare for a very long day

We met Ivo, our guide/driver, at 6:20am for a full day to Montenegro in a comfortable full 17 seat Ford minibus. We left early to beat the crowds at the border crossing, where we had to disembark and each show our passports to border control. The process was easy because there was only two cars ahead of us. The return trip took nearly 40 minutes due to a single line of cars and mini buses ahead of us. During the summer season, that process can take up to 2 hours. We stopped shortly after the crossing at a mall for a bathroom break and coffee. We then stopped outside Perast for a nice photo op and then headed to Perast for an hour of free time to walk thru town or take a boat ride to Our Lady of the Rocks (10 euros per person). The town is quaint but there wasn't much open (probably due to the season ending mid-end Oct). We then drove to the beautiful medieval town of Kotor for 2 hours of free time to enjoy Old Town Kotor. There were plenty of side streets to explore with many shops and restaurants. We had lunch at Pomodorino for homemade pasta and focaccia sandwiches (excellent). Kotor was definitely the highlight of the day. Another stop for photos from a great elevated viewpoint on the way to the town of Budva. We were given 2 hours to explore Budva on our own but one hour would have been sufficient. The Old Town of Budva is charming but the surrounding areas are dirty and filled with many buildings in various stages of construction. We then had a long ride back to Dubrovnik to complete a 13 hour day (advertised as 10 hours). Ivo, our guide, worked hard to convey the history of the region and was knowledgeable. However, the overall tour was too long. Perhaps we went too late in the season when many things have already closed and it wasn't hot enough to enjoy summertime activities like swimming in the ocean and hanging out at the beach.

Rocco was a wonderful guide and driver. We met him at the Hilton Imperial. He was very knowledgeable and humorous. I would recommend. We stopped at Jaden restaurant in Budva and it was delicious.
