Vores tour guide, James, var fantastisk. Han var venlig, elskværdig og informativ. Restaurantudvalget var fantastisk, portionerne rigelige, drikkevarevalg stor og tempoet underholdende. Jeg betragter virkelig prisen som en meget god værdi. Jeg kan ikke forestille mig en anden måde at få en sådan informeret og godt styret spise og social oplevelse på.

Jeg elskede turen og vores guide, Avery. Vi prøvede mad, som vi ikke engang havde vidst om, og endda gik til det stop, som min mand virkelig ville have! Den eneste ulempe var, at jeg uforvarende havde købt vip-pakken, og det er ikke værd at ekstra 20. 00 pr. Person.

Dette er min 5 th mad tour og muligvis min favorit. Folk i Portland er venlige og det bragte en afslappet atmosfære for turen. Timothy startede denne tur lige ved at dukke op med Holy Doughnuts, en lokal favorit. Der var den perfekte blanding af fine dining smag til lokale, afslappede favoritter. Vi var havde den bedste klassiske hummerrulle parret med lokale håndværk øl. Denne tour tilbød den perfekte mængde mad og nok walking men ikke for meget. Vær forberedt på at gå op ad bakken lidt på turen, men det er før du begynder at spise så det er ikke for svært. Rejseplanen var perfekt. En ideel blanding af historie, mad og gå rundt i Portland gaderne. Timothy, vores guide, var en lokal, der delte hans kærlighed til byen, og man kunne virkelig fortælle, hvor meget han elsker Maine. Tak gutter for en god eftermiddag!

Ikke nok fokus på diverse kulinariske tilbud

Tour var meget behageligt, guide var dejlige og prøver af goodies var varieret generøse og lækre. Lokale chocolatier diskuterede hendes håndlavede specialchokolader var engagerende. En god måde at tilbringe flere timer.
Når det er sagt, var det mere en combo city historie og mad tour i modsætning til en, der fokuserede på byens pulserende kulinariske scene. Masser af tid bruge til at beskrive branden i 1866 og historien om bldgs, interessant men ikke hvad jeg havde forventet på "foodie tour".
Ville have ønsket mere info om Portlands udvikling i et nationalt anerkendt kulinarisk destination. Vi forventede at besøge nogle af de karakteristiske restauranter og sælgere, der har lagt Portland på kortet som en kulinarisk destination.
Den eneste fuld service restaurant vi besøgte var Gritty McDuff's, en Portland institution som brygge pub men slet ikke reflekterende over Portland's innovative varierede restaurant scene. Ville have hilst velkommen til at besøge mere kreativ restaurant eller madleverandører og høre kommentarer fra kok, leder eller madhandlere. Andet end chokolatierne fik vi ikke at møde nogen andre i fødevarebranchen.
Steder på vores tur omfattede sort marked, smoothie shop, chocolatier shop, 2 leverandører på det offentlige marked og Gritty McDuffs.
Vi kender Portland meget godt og spiser der regelmæssigt, desværre har denne tur vist nogle af de inspirerede kulinariske tilbud, der gør byens spisestue så speciel.

The Old Port Culinary Walking Tour is exactly that, a combination food and history tour as the culture and history of the town are part of what has created the culinary culture.
We're an educational company who values the opportunities to share not only some of the artisan food and beverages in the area and the stories of these taste makers, but to introduce our guests to local history and points of interest that are naturally along our tour routes.
We absolutely have more restaurant centric tours that are available. You chose the Old Port Culinary Walking Tour which is noted in the description to more specifically focus on the entrepreneurs and experiences from brewers, bakers, confectioners and other craft food and beverage creators above and beyond the chef cap.
One example you mention is Gritty’s who combines two iconic Maine flavors in one, a modern classic of Maine craft beer and an iconic lobster roll taste. They were the first brew pub to open since prohibition (and prohibition originated in Portland), so they’re both an institution and significant in the history of the culinary scene here.
Mr. Tuna is one of several local businesses featured in the Bon Appetite restaurant city of the year article as a must visit and they're one of the spots you visited in the Public Market House. This is a hub for start up food businesses to work on their business model, often before venturing out to their own brick and mortar. Holy Donuts who are a national icon on every donut best of list feature Maine-sourced potatoes which are one of the big three for Maine - blueberries, potatoes and lobster. Blake Orchard was founded by a 21 yo and in her fourth year of operation she's preparing to open a 2nd location. There's a very strong trend in wellness globally and Blake's was ahead of the curve on this in Portland.
Hearing the perceptions from our guests is always a great learning experience for us. We balance this with the knowledge that when your business is in food and beverages that on occasions like this not all experiences will resonate.
We recommend our happy hours or progressive dinners for a more restaurant focused experience in the future. Thank you!

Fantastisk tur!

Jeg måtte ligge i seng med en fuld mave en god time efter Maine Foodie Tour. Vi dækkede en masse god mad fra den berømte Portland hummerrulle til smoothies til supper. Fik at lære om Portland historie som vi gik rundt samt som var virkelig pæne.
