Apparently, a Phone Call Was Too Expensive — So We Missed the Boat

The operator changed the departure time of the boat tour and did not properly inform us.
They claimed they had sent a WhatsApp message, but the phone number they used did not have an active WhatsApp account. In other words, they sent a message through a channel that clearly received no response and made no further effort to contact us.
As a result, I travelled all the way from Lecce to the meeting point with my family and our baby, only to discover that the boat had already left.
I asked the woman from the company why they had not simply called me or sent an SMS. Her answer was that she did not want to spend money contacting a Portuguese number.
Apparently, the cost of one phone call or SMS from Italy to Portugal was too high a price to pay for basic customer service.
The way the situation was handled was also rude and completely lacking in customer care. They took no responsibility for the communication failure and were unwilling to offer a refund themselves.
In the end, the money was refunded through Viator, not voluntarily by the local operator.
Changing the departure time is already a serious issue. Changing it, failing to make sure the customer was actually informed, and then blaming the customer afterwards is unacceptable.
I would not book with this operator again.

Fantastic experience!
We went as a family, and we did not expect to find such kind and energetic staff. The boat captain was excellent, we had the chance to enter the caves…the guy was friendly and skilled.
The aperitif was exceptional. A unique experience that we will remember forever!

Wonderful morning

Beautiful experience this morning with the Sabrina gozzo boat. Captain Mauro was very kind, super prepared with his explanations of the many caves we visited. Two stops for swimming in crystal-clear waters and a super varied and delicious aperitif. Music on board and on the way back we sang and enjoyed the sea breeze.

Wonderful experience with the Sabrina gozzo boat.
Salento is beautiful on its own, but with Mauro at the helm, who explained and told us about the peculiarities of the caves in great detail throughout the tour, it was wonderful. The two stops for swimming and the aperitif rounded off a trip we will remember. Thanks a lot for everything... Group from the Marche region "everyone had a great time" 🤪🤣
