Itinerary

1
Itinerary, Step 1
Enjoy an authentic dogsled ride on actual snow, guided by Alaskan huskies and experienced mushers, amidst breathtaking scenery during summer. Your adventure commences with a helicopter flight over glaciers and icebergs, with frequent sightings of moose, black bears, Dall sheep, and goats. Upon landing on a vast, snow-covered glacier, you'll spend an hour with sled dogs that have competed in the Iditarod and their dedicated mushers who reside there year-round. Experience the exhilaration of a dog team run through fresh snow. With only 4 participants per sled, everyone gets a chance to sit and relax or stand on the runners and actively mush! Following your dogsled tour, you'll have the opportunity to meet the incredible canine athletes that powered your sled, hear captivating stories of their long-distance racing endeavors, and of course, pose for photos with your favorite dogs. The helicopter will then transport you back to the lodge, flying over the lower glaciers where you can observe the striking blue melt pools and deep crevasses.

Best tour of our Alaska trip
vetpod, October 2026
We were in Alaska for two weeks and this tour was the highlight of our trip. The helicopter pilot was awesome. We saw brown and black bears, moose and mountain sheep. We landed on a glacier a few feet from a beautiful blue water hole in a silence more profound thatn any I have experienced,. Then the dogsled ride where we were able to drive the sled behind dogs that were clearly very happy and loving their job.

Exceptional Staff, Stunning Views, Unforgettable Memories
jamiekZ9033UD, September 2026
What an introduction to Alaska! This was our Day 1 experience and it was AMAZING! Weather was perfect, the views were breathtaking, and the staff was exceptional. Ashley was a wonderful escort who was extremely friendly and provided great commentary on the drive. Liam was our pilot who made this nervous Nellie feel comfortable on the flight to and from the glacier. Jimmy & his crew were so friendly and welcoming and gave us a cool experience as a musher, and to top it off - we played with puppies! :) The office / lodge is a beautiful space and the coffee shop is a great place to enjoy a beverage and the views while you wait. This was a highlight of the trip and I highly recommend Alaksa Helicopter Tours!
