Artemis, the Greek goddess, daoghter of Zeus & Leto and twin of Apollo was the goddess of wild animals, the hunt and child birth. She was widely worshipped in the Greek wolrd but her most famous cult site was the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The temple was destroyed on July 21 356 BC in an act of arson committed by Herostratus. According to the story that very same night, Alexander the Great was born. A noble Ephesian remarked that Artemis was too busy with Alexander's delivery to save her burning temple. Alexander later offered to pay for the Temple's rebuilding, but the Ephesians refused. Eventually, the temple was restored after Alexander's death in 323 BC. This reconstruction was itself destroyed during a raid by the Goths Then it was rebuilt but after thousands of years today not much left to see from the Artemision. Excellent Tour Company
Karen H, October 2026
I cannot say enough good things about this tour company and the young man who runs it, Ramazan Altuntas. I was planning a relatively last minute trip to Türkiye. On the advice of a friend, I wanted to visit several locations in the country besides Istanbul, but I had no idea how to go about it logistically. During my research I read a travel blog where someone recommended Crowded House to an older woman who was traveling alone to Türkiye and wanted to visit some historical site but wasn't sure how to do it. I looked up Crowded House onTrip Advisor and saw the excellent reviews and the various tours they offered for groups. It was a complete shot in the dark but I emailed Crowded House asking whether they could accommodate my husband and I on a private tour to the various places I wanted to go. I received a response within minutes from Ramazan saying sure, no problem, whatever you like we can do for you. And that's exactly what they did! My husband and I were picked up from our hotel in Istanbul and taken on private tours to Gallipoli, Troy, Pergamon, Ephesus, and Cappadocia (all amazing!) Ramazan arranged it all, including my transfers to and from airports during the excursion. All of the drivers and guides were excellent and very friendly. The vans were new and clean and always prompt. All of the full day tours included a terrific lunch. Everything was beautifully organized and seamlessly executed. Ramazan was very easy to work with. He always responded timely to my questions and was extremely accommodating. We worked out every detail by email and it left me thinking it was too good to be true. But Ramazan and his team are phenomenal and fully delivered an enjoyable, memorable and most importantly, EASY travel/tour experience for us. Also, my husband, who can be hard to please on vacations, was very impressed with this company and how well things turned out. I highly recommend Crowded House for any of your travels throughout Türkiye.

The "Fashion Show" excursion took away from the experience of visiting ancient sites.
peterta2016, September 2026
The guide was very knowledgeable. Pick up at the hotel went smoothly. The lunch was very good. My wife and I were in a small group. Everything went very well until we were taken to a "fashion Show", which was a blatant disguise to sell us leather and other clothing. Nobody in our group bought anything. It took away from the overall experience. My wife asked if we were going to see St John's basilica. Not today on this tour came the reply. It would have been much better to avoided the "Fashion" experience and replace it with a visit to St John's basilica.
