From spring to summer, the four islands of the reserve become a nesting site for approximately 4 million seabirds.
You can observe numerous species, including the world's second-largest colony of Leach’s Storm-Petrel (620,000 pairs), Common Murre, Razorbill Auk, Black-Legged Kittiwake, Great Black-backed Gull, Black Guillemot, Northern Fulmar, Thick-billed Murre, and Herring Gull.

We had a great time on our OBrien's boat tour last weekend in Bay Bulls! Patrick was our host and he was excellent - lots of fun, entertaining, sang songs, told jokes, educated and had lots of fun facts about the area, and well, kind on the eyes for the ladies (or gents!). lol And we were lucky - the weather was PERFECT! The boat was clean and safe and they did a really great job overall. It was late September so we didn't see much wildlife (which was expected!) so we knew that going in - but we still spend lots of time watching the remaining Puffins, and beacuse there weren't any whales, they gave guests the ability to try cod fishing and came away with some great catches. VERY well organized and entertaining. Thank you to the O'Brien brothers and staff!

Enjoyable Boat Tour

We went on the two hour boat tour on 29th of September and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The entire process was excellent. Check-in was by last name, as they already had a roster prepared for the day's trip. Boarding was easy, we selected the lower covered deck since the weather was cool and not really dressed for it. The crew was a lot of fun and answered questions about any thing that came up during the voyage. Even though it was late in the season, they did locate some puffins that were still there. We all enjoyed the experience and would not hesitate to go again.

Absolutely delightful from pickup to drop off. Fabulous stories about the area and fantastic information about the aquatic and avian life. The crew made you feel welcome and the sing alongs were a blast! Would do this again when visiting Newfoundland!!
