Capturing the colours of Calcutta
phoebestravels, October 2026
Manjit's tour captured the colours and delightful chaos of Kolkata. His love for his city and the people in it was obvious, and he brought its history to life. Meandering through diverse sections of the city, we stopped to have chai, the best peanuts in Kolkata, naan and other scrumptious snacks. This must surely rank as a must do tour for all those who really want to feel the heart and soul of this vibrant city.

A fantastic introduction to the cultural mix and history of Kolkata

The Culture Kaleidoscope Tour was a wonderful way to experience and introduce us to Kolkata. It offered a fascinating mix of the city’s history, culture and everyday life, and gave us a richer sense of what makes Kolkata so distinctive. Manjit was engaging and knowledgeable, and brought a local perspective to the places we visited. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would happily recommend Calcutta Photo Tours to anyone wanting to see the city from a different perspective.

A great Kolkata introduction

This was our second walking tour with Manjit. He introduced us to the complex origin story of Kolkata in an entertaining manner, then led us through back alleys, providing colurful stories and pointing out details we would not have known the significance of independently.

Fantastic tour of multicultural Kolkata

What a wonderful tour! I went in knowing very little about this incredible city, and I came out feeling like I had been able to experience a vibrant, fascinating place.
Manjit is the perfect tour guide - knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. The tour is structured enough to feel like the three hours fly past, but flexible enough to cater to the needs and wants of the group. He showed us places I definitely wouldn't have found on my own, keeping things light while being incredibly informative.
The photographers in the group got some great shots - but I don't think you need a camera to enjoy this tour. A small group (there were 8 of us) meant that there was always someone to chat to, ideal as a solo traveller, but you never felt like it was too big a group.
Would highly, highly recommend this tour - the fact that three of our eight were back for a second tour with the same guide is testament to how good is.
