Tandem skydiving is an incredible experience, and at TTS, we are passionate about making your skydive a memory to remember. On arrival, you will go through the safety briefing and our available camera options, then get kitted up with all the equipment you need for a safe experience. Meet your experienced tandem master, and the adventure begins!
First you'll enjoy a scenic plane ride up to 12,000ft, 15,000ft or 16,500ft (depending on the altitude option you choose). You’ll see incredible views of Lake Taupo, Mount Ruapehu and Mount Ngauruhoe – also known as Mount Doom from Lord of the Rings.
Once you’ve reached altitude, the doors will open, you’ll sit on the edge of the plane with your tandem master seated behind you. After exiting the plane you will freefall at speeds of 200 kph! At 5,500 feet your tandem master will deploy the parachute and you can catch your breath while taking in the stunning views of the Lake Taupo area.
Float back to earth with a relaxing parachute ride with your tandem master, arriving safe and soundly back at the drop zone. Once back on the ground it’s time for a high five and a hug. You did it!

Lake Taupo 16,500-Foot Tandem Skydiving

I was only able to booked for the 12,000ft tandem jump on TripAdvisor but was able to upgrade to the 16,500ft jump at the site. Definitely worth it! My tandem guide, David, kept me calm and confident from start to finish, his professionalism made the whole experience feel safe. The views were absolutely breathtaking and the jump itself was an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime thrill. Highly recommended.

I finally did it! I’ve been thinking about skydiving for to many years, and after jumping with the team at Taupō Tandem Skydive, I honestly don’t know why it took me this long. What an incredible experience.
A massive shout-out to Prashant Kapoor – this guy is the man! His energy from the start was awesome, I completely vibed off him, and he made the whole experience even better. He was professional, confident, relaxed and genuinely looked like he was having just as much fun as I was. Prashant, thank you brother – you made an already unforgettable experience that much better.
Something that really stood out to me was the team's approach to safety. I noticed how often Prashant checked our setup and his own gear, and how the team were constantly checking each other's equipment as well. Nothing felt rushed or taken for granted. It was obvious that safety was paramount, and seeing that process gave me complete trust in the team before we even left the plane.
And then the jump itself... incredible.
What surprised me most was how peaceful it felt up there. The clean, quiet, cool air at altitude was like nothing you experience at sea level. For something that gets your adrenaline going, there was also this amazing sense of calm once we were out there. Hard to put into words until you've experienced it yourself.
I absolutely want to do it again, much higher would if possible.
To the whole Taupō Tandem Skydive team – thank you for an experience I'll never forget. And Prashant, mate, what a job you have – your office window sure trumps mine.
