Extremely professional crew!
WashingtonianNative, October 2026
When I first saw our boat, I was blown away. I couldn't believe the size and beauty of the boat that we had for the cruise and bbq lunch. Nor did I realize we would have a full crew dedicated to our every need. I felt like I was a celebrity cruising on my yacht. George (assistant captain, I think) and the hostess from Bulgaria (Aylin?) were incredibly professional, personable, and attentive. They represent their company extremely well! On the particular day we went, it was on the cold side and we chose not to proceed to one part of the trip because the waters were choppy so my advice is to pick a day with calm waters and weather warm enough that you will want to swim. The only disappointment for me was that the chicken was overcooked/not tender but the rest of the food spread was very nice and there was plenty of it.

Be warned!!!!

I want to begin by saying that my family and I did not actually go on this cruise but I do want to explain the experience that we had encountered in dealing with this vendor. About 18 hours prior to our scheduled cruise, my daughter had to be taken to an emergency medical clinic in Santorini where she had to have the first of two surgical procedures ( the second one taking place the following morning at the time of the scheduled excursion). I notified this vendor of our circumstances, cancelled the booking, and offered to provide detailed medical documentation in the event that they would be willing to offer us a refund. They immediately responded and said that, because we were less than 24 hours out from the cruise, a refund would not be possible. Although we weren't happy about it, we completely understood their decision.
The thing that we couldn't understand, however, is why then then proceeded to harrass us with numerous texts, emails and phone calls asking us to confirm the fact that we were okay with not getting a refund. This was all being done while we were dealing with a medical complication in a foreign country which served to add stress to an already complicated situation. When I responded by telling them that I plan to post a review warning other potential clients of their unprofessional behavior, they accused me of threatening them in order to circumvent their process and obtain a refund.
While I fully understand the fact that this is a business that functions within certain rules, having worked in a customer service driven industry for over thirty years, I also understand the value of the human factor. My family travels often and extensively and I can honestly say that the insensitivity and unprofessional behavior that we experienced from this particular vendor is not something that we have previously witnessed.
I have been in contact with Viator regarding this vendor and they could not have been more supportive, caring or professional. We will continue to use them without an ounce of hesitation whenever we travel in the future. I wish the same could be said about Spiridakos Sailing Cruises.
Response from the operator · CaptainLeonidas Dear Jennifer Kling,
While we sincerely regret to hear about your daughter's medical situation during your trip to Santorini, we must clarify the facts surrounding this booking to provide an accurate account of what transpired.
A. Cancellation Policy & Standard Operations: Your reservation was booked under Viator’s explicit 24-hour cancellation policy. The cancellation request was submitted less than 24 hours prior to departure, at a point when all logistics, catering, boat capacity, and crew arrangements for your group of three had already been finalized and held.
B. Communication & Timeline: We adhere to strict standards of professional communication and do not harass guests. Any follow-up communication from our team was strictly necessary to confirm operational status, manage transport logistics, and clarify cancellation terms via the platform messaging system.
C. Threats of Negative Reviews: While you state that you understood our decision, your messages explicitly leveraged the threat of a negative review unless an exception was made outside our established policy. We believe that using online reviews as leverage to bypass standard contractual policies is an unfair practice.
D. Resolution via Platform: Viator handles booking processing and refunds directly according to their booking platform terms. We note that Viator updated your booking status to refunded, ensuring that your issue was addressed through the platform’s customer service channels.
We wish your daughter a full and speedy recovery and hope your future travels are smooth and uninterrupted.
Kind regards,
Spiridakos Sailing Cruises
