Your tour begins at Fort Hays Chuckwagon. Please check in at the Fort Hays Headquarters Building between 7:45 AM and 8:00 AM to receive your printed tickets and assigned bus for the day.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial
The bus departs at 9:00 AM for Mount Rushmore. You will have just over an hour to explore at your own pace and enjoy the sights and beauty of South Dakota. We visit Mount Rushmore first as it is best viewed in the morning sun. Gutzon Borglum intended the sculpture to be viewed facing east, towards the morning light.

Iron Mountain Road
After departing Mount Rushmore, we will travel along the scenic Iron Mountain Road. This 17-mile route offers breathtaking views and features three one-lane tunnels that perfectly frame Mount Rushmore.

The tour commences at Fort Hays Chuckwagon with check-in between 7:50 AM and 8:00 AM. Check-in is scheduled 45 minutes prior to bus departure to allow ample time to explore Fort Hays. The location is conveniently situated on Hwy 16, just south of Rapid City, on the route to Mount Rushmore (approximately 12 minutes from downtown Rapid City).

Please check in at Fort Hays Headquarters between 7:45 AM and 8:00 AM to collect your tickets for your assigned bus for the day.
