The trek begins at an altitude of approximately 1420 meters above sea level.
We'll start by walking through tea plantations for about 60 to 90 minutes.
Upon reaching the hilltop, the remainder of our trek will take place on the ridge, offering stunning panoramic views.
The trail winds through grasslands, with a rocky mountain slope on one side and tea plantations on the other, interspersed with patches of Shola forest.
On clear days, you can admire Anaimudi, the highest peak in South India, and the Idukki Dam reservoir, known as one of Asia's highest arch dams and the third tallest in India.
A refreshment or picnic lunch will be provided at a suitable spot during the trek.
Our route will take us through Nature Zone, where you can observe exotic spices like coffee and cardamom.
The trek concludes with another 60 to 90-minute walk through tea plantations.
The highest elevation reached during this trek is approximately 1950 meters above sea level.

After reaching the top of the hill, the rest of our couple of hours trek will be on the ridge which offers beautiful views around. It will be through grasslands, one side will be a rocky mountain slope and the other side will be tea plantations, patches of Shola forest etc. On a clear sky day, we could see the Anaimudi “highest peak in S. India”.

Munnar hiking trek

The mountain hiking trek in Munnar was excellent. We hiked 6 miles through forest and tea plantations. The elevation gain was 2000 feet. Our guide, Vijay, was knowledgable and informative about the surroundings. He shared about the nature, landscape, plants, and animals. Also about the local people and villages. The hike provided for amazing views down into the valleys and villages as well as adventure and exercise. Vijay went above and beyond as far as guides go!

Half day hike with Samy

I went on this hike with my sister and really enjoyed it. Even though it was a bit rainy and foggy, the views of the mountains and tea plantations were incredible. Samy is a very knowledgeable, passionate, and friendly guide, and even drove us back to our hotel afterwards. There was also a hotel pickup at the start (for an extra fee), and Samy brought some delicious tea and snacks for on top of one of the mountains during the 8.2 km hike. I would recommend to wear shoes with good grip, and long trousers and socks as you will be walking through some vegetation and muddy trails during rainy season.

Munnar, Lakshemi Hill half day hike with sammy

My tour guide was Sammy and he was awesome.
Sammy was very knowledgeable about the tea plantations and their history, I got a very insightful information about the types of wild life and plants that live in the area as well. On top of the plantations and ecosystem, he has given me insights on the types of medical herbs that are grown in the area and the history behind it.
The hike itself was amazing, I was able to see the beautiful rolling hills of munnar and walk through the tea plantations. We also climbed two mountains with waterfalls and a full view of the area.
The difficulty of the lakshmi hill hike I'd say was easy with steeps.
