This is my family and I’s first time in salem and a tour around the town was a must on our itinerary. Topher was our tour guide and did an incredible job! He was well-informed, engaging, insightful, humorous, and just overall welcoming. 100% recommend.

Worst Experience I’ve Ever Had
Mariah_L, October 2026
I’ve used Viator all over the world for many years and this was hands down THE WORST tour I’ve ever been on. So bad in fact people were leaving in the middle of it. I think our tour guides name was William , although he never introduced himself. During the 2 hours we learned he was hit by a car when he was in college at a crosswalk where a girl was hit and killed a few months prior; his mother ( as he often referred to her ) works for the same tour company and during check in kept shouting “ Mother” and running off to her ; as well as every violation and infraction other tour guides were making ( think things like where they can and cannot use their microphones). That is what we learned and heard about for 2 hours. We walked away beyond disappointed and absolute disgusted at what we paid for the NOTHING we received. We didn’t even stop in-front of any of the sites listed in the tour description. We’d get “close”, which was really a block away on the other side of the street, because the guide would tell us it was illegal to go closer - mean while every other tour group was passing us and going to the exact spots. It was so awkward that people were trying to navigate us around our group to take their trash out and we couldn’t get any closer because our guide , and I quote “ didn’t want to get his license taken away”. All I can say is ABSOLUTELY DON’T DO THIS TOUR , unless you want to see nothing and learn nothing. It’s 2 hours of walking around listening to a grown man rant about the short comings of his life and how he’s the only one who follows the rules.
