🏜️

I've been to most places in Doha and even went on a desert tour, so I signed up for the Qatar North Tour with the thought of just taking a light look around! It was more interesting and fulfilling than I expected haha. The scenery where the sea and desert meet is so wonderful, and you also explain in detail about Qatar's history, architecture, and tourist attractions. If you're passing through, it might be a bit ambiguous, but if you feel it's a shame not to see Doha, I recommend it. If you want to see flamingos in Purple Island, visit in winter..🥹

Wadood made our North Qatar tour unforgettable
519faisels, October 2026
We had an absolutely wonderful experience exploring northern Qatar with our guide, Wadood Abdul. What really stood out was that Wadood contacted us earlier in the day and offered to pick us up at 2:30 instead of our scheduled 4:00 PM start simply so that we would have more time to enjoy the north. That immediately told us how much he cared about giving us a great experience rather than just watching the clock.
My son and I had just come from an incredible adventure in Nepal, and this ended up being another one of those travel days we will remember for a very long time. Wadood took us through the mangroves and Purple Island, showed us the history and landscape of northern Qatar, and gave us plenty of time to explore the historic sites and ruins rather than rushing us from stop to stop.
The timing could not have been better. We watched the landscape change completely as the afternoon turned into sunset and then night. Exploring the old stone ruins at sunset was beautiful, and staying late enough to see the Milky Way above them was something I never expected when we booked this tour. Those ended up being some of my favorite photographs from our entire trip.
More importantly, Wadood was warm, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely enjoyable to spend the afternoon with. By the end it felt much less like being driven around on a commercial tour and much more like exploring Qatar with a local friend who was proud to show us his country.
If you are considering a North Qatar tour, I cannot recommend Wadood enough. Thank you for giving my son and me such a special evening and memories we will keep forever.

The best half-day tour I could’ve had

I booked my tour through my hotel who arranged it all for me, and my tour guide (Wadood) was right on time with the pickup. Throughout the drive, Wadood was very knowledgable and gave detailed explanations of the history and culture of Qatar.
Wadood was a brilliant guide, and also gave me plenty of time to explore the sites by myself which I really appreciated. He also took lots of photos for me - which as a solo traveller, is always very helpful.
I booked the 4-hour tour to start at 3pm, and we were able to see the sunset over Al Zubarah and the nearby ruins which was a beautiful sight. There was also no one else around which made it very peaceful.
My only advice to other people would be to book the tour a little bit earlier! Because I booked it so late, it did mean that by the time we reached Purple Island and the mangroves, the sun had completely set and I couldn’t really see anything.
10/10 - and I would definitely be booking with Wadood for the desert safari if I ever came back to Qatar!

Maybe not the right season for this trip, but if you don't have a choice....
Simply not much to see, unfortunately.

History tour of Northern Qatar

A great tour to learn about the early history about Qatar and to see the northern part of the country in half a day
