Pictures are misleading, but people and tour guides are nice
Pathfinder742432, October 2026
I gave this a three out of five just because the pictures are misleading. The fast boat you go on is pretty much like a massivebus load of people on a crammed boat. It is not the yacht like experience that is shown in the pictures. The photos are just that-they are photo opportunities of pretty places that you can’t hike down to or sit on those beaches. You just take a picture from far away with a bunch of other tourists crammed in around you. Eventually, you do go snorkeling, but it is brief and it is not like the pictures.

Great Veiws

The drive/guide and lunch supplied on the island was fantastic and friendly. Been an older couple some of tracks were challening, but we still got to see all the sites, all admissiom free were looked after by the guide and the transfer driver from the hotel to the port equally helpful and organised boarding passes and guiding us were to go.

It's not worth it for 1 day.
crisperini, October 2026
The day started at 6:30 AM at the hotel in Sanur when a driver took us to the port and gave us the round-trip tickets for a large, fast speedboat to reach Nusa Penida. A driver was waiting for us there who accompanied us to visit Kelingking Beach, Angel's Billabong, and Broken Beach. These are just viewpoints; there are no beaches. The only beach was the last stop reached after lunch (at a restaurant included in the price) at Crystal Bay. Afterward, the driver took us back to the port where the boat brought us back to Sanur and a driver took us back to the hotel. The roads in Nusa Penida are very, very damaged, full of ups and downs that make the car ride between one point and the next very uncomfortable. In summary, if you don't stay overnight in Nusa Penida, you have to wake up early and spend a lot of time in the car. Until investments are made in the roads, I do NOT recommend the 1-day tour.

The tour guide did the bare minimum
Pedro_M, September 2026
Everything went well, the pickup truck drivers were very friendly, there was a call from the hotel of the stay to Sanur Port round trip and pickup of the guide at Nusa Penida Port. But the disillusionment was really the tour guide (driver) on Nusa Penida island. Simply opted to do the minimum, take us to the agreed places, take half a dozen photos, and wait for us. He didn't speak to us once, nor was he curious, nor did he want to explain the various points we went through from his island. My wife and I were still trying to be nice and try to start a conversation, but he would simply respond with automatic answers like, yes, no, ok. Etc... But, there it is, apart from that, everything was very well organized! The boat was also calm, there were no problems.
