Exploring Kusadasi and its History
E5015DTjamesp, October 2026
What an incredible day touring around with our tour guide Nagi and driver Ahmet. They were absolutely the best we have ever experienced in Turkey. We custom designed our day around our personal interest versus that of a standard tour list.
Nagi added added her local knowledge which made the day very personable and enjoyable. As an example when we went to Ephesus she started at the high end of the city so that the entire Journey was walking downhill. Most of the busses were going on the opposite direction. As the day progressed we finished the old city of Ephesus, took in a museum presentation on how everything "used to look". For me personally this was just OK I would have rather walked the 300 steps via the live archeological site....That would have been more meaningful to me. But this was still good.
As the day continued we grabbed lunch at an excellent local restaurant, then on to a carpet school. Now this was really really cool you got to see the live making of silk carpets with the double knot method. Before you ask there was no sales pressure to buy a carpet but we got one heck of a presentation with the option to buy all of them. Afterwards it was on to the tomb of the Apostle John, this is something you should not miss. Despite the fact the Basilica was destroyed by a earthquake you can't help but feel the importance of this particular place. Just a reminder to those of you who may not remember The Apostle John was the only one to die of natural causes at age 100. We wrapped up a day with a stop at a ceramic shop and a local Bazaar which was really a lot of fun with a lot of food tasting. So if you want a fun diversified day with an excellent camel driver and an amazing tour guide I would book with Nagi and Ahmet. Please note there are no camels in this part of Turkey. Thank you to both of them for providing an excellent day for us and our friends.

An exceptional day!

Such an exceptional day in Ephesus and Kusadasi, Turkey, with Nagi, our Tour Guide, and driver, Ahmet! Nagi contacted me the night before to introduce herself and to confirm our tour details. Nagi was a delight and with so much knowledge of the regional history, we were captivated. She took us everywhere we wanted (a total day of 8 hours for us), and arranged all the admission fees to make it a streamlined experience from the House of the Virgin Mary, the Acropolis from the top to the bottom, (best way to walk), St. John's Basilica, meals, to local artisans including gorgeous carpets being wove, pottery being made and painted, local food markets for tastings, no pressure to buy anything, and always much laughter! Ahmet was always there to pick us up wherever we were and was a safe and careful driver! Highly recommend this all-inclusive private tour and skip the lines!

Our guide, Merve, was excellent and shared lots of interesting stories and insights throughout the day. Ephesus was definitely the highlight – such an impressive historical site and well worth visiting.
Lunch was also included, which was a nice bonus. Overall, a great experience and a tour we would definitely recommend!

An amazing day

The tour is well worth the money, we loved learning about Ephesus, the history and the cultural significance. Our guide Nagi and our driver Mehmet were flexible, understanding and never rushed us. Ephesus was crowded but our guide worked around it. Whenever we wanted to stop and take pictures or whatever we were interesting in, she did a wonderful job of accommodating for our interest. Our lunch was great, the rug weaving demonstration was amazing and all the stops were places that clearly they have partnerships with but we were never pressured to buy anything. Overall a very pleasant day.

We can’t log on to trip advisor because we don’t have internet, but once we are able we will give you A+++ review. You had a wonderful grasp of historical foundations of Turkey from pre Christ period.
You were so kind and patient with us all the time and especially when we needed to sit and rest. The information you shared at each opportunity was full of insight and understanding of history and culture. Most importantly you were fun to be with. Thank you so much.
