Secret Lagoon - Gamla Laugin
Originally established in 1891, 'Gamla Laugin' holds the distinction of being Iceland's very first swimming pool. After decades of disuse, it was revitalized in 2005 by its current owner, who initially kept it as a private, heated pool, thus earning it the name 'The Secret Lagoon'. The lagoon is fed by a natural hot spring, with water bubbling up from the earth at a temperature of 38-39°C and a flow rate of 10 liters per second. This continuous replenishment ensures a constant supply of fresh, clean water. Adjacent to the hot spring area in Fludir, The Secret Lagoon now features modern facilities including changing rooms, showers, relaxation areas, a bar, and a restaurant. These new amenities, along with an outdoor deck, walkways, and a small café, were completed, and the Secret Lagoon quietly reopened in the summer of 2014.

Hidden gem
teckkangp, October 2026
The waters were so smooth on my skin, a cold plunge was interesting too followed by a dip back into warm water. The facilities are clean and it wasn’t crowded at all in the late afternoon. We spent around 2 hours there until they closed.

Shhhh… it’s a secret
Jessica_L, October 2026
This lagoon is great if you want to get away from the tourist traps. The price is phenomenal by comparison and the pool and changing areas were perfect. We loved it so much we went twice in a row and still paid less than one visit to the other more touristy lagoons!

They will charge you...

They will charge you extra for a towel, as a traveller nobody packs a towel in your suitcase. Price should include a towel and if you bring you own - maybe get a free drink !

A great and quiet lagoon, not overcrowded! Great atmosphere amongst small geysirs.
