We had originally planned to do the afternoon tour in Mui Ne but were asked if we would prefer to go in the morning due to the heat. This turned out to be a good idea, it was nice and quiet in the morning, and cooler, we had a very enjoyable trip. Our jeep driver and guide, Tom, was lovely.

Riding Sandworms in Mui Ne

The tour was really super great. We were picked up on time by Tung and then drove to the Fairy Path, where we walked through a stream of water for a bit. Very pleasant in the heat. After that, we went to the fishing village, where we only stopped briefly to take photos. Given the stench, that was probably for the best. Then the highlight of the tour awaited: the white sand dunes. Here you could choose whether to ride along on a quad (partly on your own or being driven) or in a jeep. I would definitely recommend paying the 800,000 VND to be able to drive the quad yourself for a certain distance. The last stop was the red sand dunes. Here we watched the sun go down, which only partially worked (cloudy). Overall a great experience in Mui Ne. Tung speaks great English and was a super guide for us, thanks!

Not worth it

Our driver was absolutely wonderful and had great English!! I was annoyed because entry to white sand dunes is all you get - the jeep parks and you basically are forced to buy ATV tickets or walk for miles to actually reach the dunes. Also, the Fairy Creek has sewage mixed in - so you’ll want to skip that. 🤢 Red dune isn’t great. My recommendation is to get a grab to white sands and save money so you can buy the ATVs without overdoing the budget.
