Campground First Landing State Park - Main Entrance (ensure it's NOT the 64th Street Entrance!)
Thank you for booking your tour with Chesapean Outdoors!
Your guide will meet you at 5:30 PM on the beach at First Landing State Park (Shore Drive location, where the campground is situated). The address for your GPS is 2500 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia, 23451.
Upon arrival, you will need to pay the Park Ranger ($4 on weekdays, $5 on weekends and holidays), then park in the main parking lot.
Proceed down the walkway to the right of the Chesapeake Bay Center; your guide will be waiting for you next to the kayaks on the beach.
Please keep your cell phone with you in case of any last-minute changes.
Waiver: Please sign our electronic liability waiver at https://www.smartwaiver.com/v/generaltours/. Waivers MUST be signed to participate in your scheduled adventure.
What to bring: This is an open-water kayak tour launching from the beach, so you will get wet. Dress accordingly. Sunglasses and sunscreen are highly recommended. Ensure you are hydrated and have had breakfast.
Your guide will provide a dry bag for items such as keys, money, camera, and phone. Items like beach towels, shoes, or extra t-shirts will be left on the beach for your return.
What to expect: Kayaking with dolphins is an incredible experience. While we frequently see wild dolphins (sightings occur in 90% of daily tours), sightings are not guaranteed.
Seasickness is uncommon on our tours, but if you are concerned, we recommend taking preventative medication as refunds are not provided for seasickness.
Waves, winds, and currents can occasionally make our tours challenging. We typically recommend tandem kayaks for paddlers when possible.
Cancellations: Chesapean Outdoors reserves the right to cancel tours due to weather or ocean conditions, prioritizing safety. If rescheduling is not possible, a full refund will be issued.
If you need to cancel, please notify us in writing via email at least 48 hours before the tour to receive a full refund. Failure to notify us within 48 hours and not showing up for the tour will result in forfeiture of your payment (including any vouchers).
Tipping the Guide: Tipping is customary in the guide service industry. While not required, most guests tip their guide if they are satisfied with the service. Your guide will provide essential kayaking instruction, ensure your safety on the water, and share knowledge about dolphins and local points of interest!
