A tour with a guide very well-versed in the subject.

I really liked this immersion into the history of Derry and especially what led to the civil war and the conflicts between Catholics and Protestants. And the peace process that followed. Our guide, a lady, described all of this to us in a very easy-to-understand way. She took the time to answer all the questions we had.

An Experience right on our door step

I booked this Tour for my Mum as it was always something she wanted to do after growing up through the troubles herself. I did not know what to expect.
We met with our tour guide, Jenny, at the Guildhall, and from then I was hooked.
Jenny was brilliant, so welcoming to all the people on the tour.
She told the story with real, raw feeling and emotion. The hairs stood up on my arms with the stories Jenny had told us. It was very clear to see she has a passion for Irish History.
She took time with us all for all our questions and was also very intrigued by hearing my mum's past experiences; it was calm and relaxed. My mum's mobility worried me; we didn't feel rushed at all. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone near or far and request Jenny ... You will not be disappointed...Jenny, give yourself a round of applause.

If You Only Do One Thing in Derry, Do This.

Simply could not recommend this tour more.
Jimmy, our guide, was fantastic and shared so much of his life and what it was like to live in Derry through the Troubles. I feel very privileged that he was willing to share with us, and feel very lucky to have gotten to hear a first hand account. Jimmy provides such a compelling story of this time in Derry, not trivializing whose side did what, but presenting facts and the reality of what it was like to live through it. Jimmy took us to pivotal places in the conflict and showed photos and explained exactly what happened where we were standing.
The tour was well worth the fee and ran for 2 hours (so plan your day accordingly). I believe our group was maybe 15 people, which made for a really intimate tour and allowed for people to ask questions. Obviously not an easy experience and best for those who know going in that it will be upsetting. That said, this tour is deeply important and truly a privilege to experience.
If you find yourself in Derry, you could not do anything better with your time than spend two hours learning about this history.
Also highly recommend the Museum of Free Derry after the tour.

The only tour to do in Derry

Our guide Peter took us on a sobering journey through the Bogside focusing on Bloody Sunday and history of the Troubles in that area. Peter’s knowledge was profound and we learnt so much especially first hand accounts from him of the day as he was present. Peter joked at the beginning that the tour was 4 hours and we can honestly say we wished it was. It ended all too soon at the Museum of Free Derry which was also brilliant! Thank you Peter for sharing your deeply personal stories along with factual information and a few jokes to give us a laugh along the way. Cannot remember this tour high enough!
