What a way to see a sunrise!
B7265RSscottw, October 2026
My wife Liz bought me (us) a Yarra Valley flight for my birthday in July but it was unfortunately cancelled the evening before the flight due to poor weather. The communication from Admin was top notch, and very clearly spelled out what we needed to know to rebook. Fast forward to yesterday and we both found ourselves with a Friday off with fine weather forecast. Arwen in the office was so lovely to deal with, and happily booked us in. Once again, the level of communication was amazing, right down to the confirmation of our flight proceeding at 6.30 last night once the weather was confirmed. We arrived at Balgownie Estate at 5am and were met by the happy team from Global. Once again, the communication was very clear. Then our group was ushered in to the waiting vehicles and we were driven to our take off location, and assisted in inflating the balloon before climbing aboard for our flight. The sunrise was stunning but what really made the flight special was our pilot, Scarlet. She did an amazing job, constantly manoeuvring the balloon to ensure everyone got plenty of photo opportunities. She also had a GoPro rigged on the outside of the balloon and took a couple of group photos for us which she later sent to everyone free of charge. Scarlet was funny and cheerful, which really made the experience a delight. Her landing was as gentle as touching a cloud... just a shame about the fresh cow pats! Ballooning is not a spectator sport. There is an expectation that you help set up and pack up the balloon, but it's a fun experience. The bottom line is, I couldn't rate Global Ballooning any higher. It was perfection from start to end.
