Scary, exciting, fun, exhilarating, unmissable!

What a fantastic way to end our four day stay in Split! We were ready for something different after trailing around many narrow, cobbled streets and Medieval churches, beautiful though they are!
Our zip lining experience not only met but exceeded our expectations! We arrived 10 minutes early for our 12pm booking and parked up for free in the company’s car park. The start of the trail is about a 10 minute ride in a minibus from Zip Line Croatia’s office in Omis. Once there, we had a 10 minute uphill hike over rough terrain, so solid shoes are essential.
The guides were very helpful and friendly. They kit you out with all your gear before the hike and then take you through a practice run on a short zip line before you tackle the real thing. I’ve done zip lining before when I just got hooked up and went. Not so this time! We were in charge of the brake ourselves so needed some tuition about how to handle it.
The first zip line was the highest and longest with the best views over the river and canyon. You can’t film while riding the zip line as you need both hands to hold onto the brake, but you do get chance later on to video if you choose to do the zip line with a buddy. The one at the front films while the one at the rear brakes.
The scenery was breathtaking. Be sure to take your phone to take photos! The guides provide you with a rucksack for any items you might have. You can wear them while doing the zips.
For me, apart from being terrified at first, the biggest challenge was maintaining my grip on the brake. You have to hold it up while travelling or you will grind to a halt, which I nearly did on the first line! I found that placing my thumb around the plate at the end of the brake helped me maintain a better grip.
The whole experience took around 2.5 hours and was money absolutely well spent. If you go with a companion, video each other from the top as this gives the best shots.

The instructors were so friendly and helpful, and made us feel very safe! They gave a demonstration and we did a practice round in the beginning, which made me feel better since this was my first time controlling the brakes on a zipline. The views of the river and mountains were breathtaking. We had such a fun time!

Definitely recommend the short trip to Omiš for this experience! In total the experience is about 2.5 hours and there’s 8 zip lining “runs” we did. One of my friends was very nervous about heights but it was less scary than she thought! FYI: if you book this for mid-late September, the 5pm start time may get pushed up to 3:30pm to beat the sunset.
