Proprio non farlo!

Volevo davvero amare questo tour perché c'erano molti aspetti positivi. Il cibo era delizioso, gli abbinamenti di vini erano eccellenti e ogni ristorante che abbiamo visitato era unico e valeva la pena provarlo. Gary ha anche condiviso alcuni interessanti fatti storici sulla strada. Agostino, e ho apprezzato quelle parti.
Sfortunatamente, l'esperienza complessiva è stata oscurata dal comportamento di Gary e non consiglierei questo tour.
Durante tutto il tour, ha passato la maggior parte del tempo a parlare di sé e a raccontare storie personali invece di concentrarsi sulla città o sul cibo. Sembrava che stesse seguendo un copione e, ogni volta che qualcuno faceva una domanda al di fuori di esso, sembrava spiazzato.
Ho anche trovato molto fastidioso il fatto che toccasse costantemente il braccio delle persone mentre parlava. Inoltre, ogni tanto prendeva o mangiava dal cibo degli ospiti, il che è sembrato inappropriato.
Un momento che mi ha dato davvero fastidio è successo alla sosta barbecue. Ci ha consegnato i nostri pasti ma ha tenuto per sé il purè di patate, dicendo: “Questo è il mio pranzo.” Più tardi, ho capito che il purè di patate faceva in realtà parte del nostro pasto, non del suo.
I ristoranti in sé erano fantastici e non ho nulla di negativo da dire sul cibo o sulle bevande. Tuttavia, per 160 $ a persona, mi aspettavo un'esperienza molto più professionale. Se questo tour costasse circa 60 $, potrei pensarla diversamente, ma al prezzo attuale, semplicemente non ne vale la pena.
Un'altra situazione spiacevole si è verificata quando Gary ha suggerito di fermarci da qualche parte per un cicchetto a causa del caldo. Ci ha detto che avremmo dovuto pagarlo noi, il che andava benissimo. Tuttavia, quando ho pagato il conto (circa 21 $), ho selezionato una mancia del 15 %. Gary mi ha fermato immediatamente, ha indicato l'opzione del 20% e ha detto: "È meglio." Non apprezzo che mi venga detto quanto dovrei dare di mancia, e certamente non mi piace che qualcuno che non conosco mi dica come spendere i miei soldi.
Infine, dopo che il tour è terminato, ci ha lasciati al ristorante di dolci ma in realtà non se n'è andato. Invece, ha aspettato al tavolo finché non abbiamo scritto le nostre recensioni e gli abbiamo dato la mancia. L'ho trovato estremamente scomodo e poco professionale. Le recensioni e le mance dovrebbero essere volontarie, non qualcosa che gli ospiti si sentono costretti a fornire mentre la guida sta in piedi sopra di loro.
È un peccato perché i ristoranti, il cibo e il vino erano davvero eccellenti. Il concetto del tour è ottimo. Tuttavia, il comportamento della guida ha reso quella che avrebbe potuto essere un'esperienza meravigliosa imbarazzante dall'inizio alla fine. Non posso raccomandare questo tour.

Thank you for this detailed review, and I'm glad the restaurants, food, and wine pairings delivered. We choose those stops carefully and they'll be happy to hear it. I'm also happy to hear you enjoyed the stories of St. Augustine's history. A little honest context for anyone reading: Garry's tour is dinner and a show, and Garry is the show. He's been telling stories his whole life, and the storytelling, the opinions, and the grandpa humor are the tour. He's going to tell you what's on his mind...advice on marriage, life, all of it. Each of our guides brings their own angle...food, history, architecture, and Garry's angle is Garry. Most guests leave feeling like they have a new uncle or made a new friend. I know Garry's style isn't for everyone, and I'm sorry it wasn't for you.
One clarification: the mashed potatoes at that stop are Garry's standing lunch order, not part of the guest meal. I'm sorry that wasn't made clear at the table.

Garry, la nostra guida, era un personaggio…
Il cibo era buono.
Non è davvero un tour gastronomico completo dove si provano diversi piatti piccoli, ma più un pranzo in diversi posti a strada Agostino.
Abbiamo iniziato con un tagliere di salumi e vino.
Ho chiesto specificamente un'opzione vegetariana e questo è stato gestito bene.
Ho anche chiesto della birra per un ospite, ma lui l'ha negata perché era un'opzione "a pagamento".
Poi barbecue e dessert.
Garry è piuttosto condiscendente e può essere brusco.
E non vuole ascoltare i suoi ospiti.
Alla fine del tour ti fa fare una recensione e ti fa riflettere sulla tua struttura di mancia dopo aver contato la mancia.
In generale, non farei di nuovo questo tour... mi dispiace dirlo... e i miei ospiti erano troppo educati per dirlo.
Sono rimasto colpito dal fatto che abbia menzionato tutte le recensioni negative e le abbia sminuite.
Ma quelle recensioni erano corrette.

We're glad to hear you enjoyed the food and that your guest was happy with the vegetarian accommodations. We always do our best to accommodate dietary preferences whenever possible.
I would like to clarify one point regarding the wine tasting. There was never an additional charge required for your guest to receive a beer. Our guide simply encouraged them to first try the curated wine tasting included with the experience, explaining that if none of the wines appealed to them, he would have been happy to substitute a beer instead. After all, trying something new is part of the experience, and as it turned out, your guest found a wine they enjoyed and chose to continue with that selection.
Our Wine, Cocktail & Food Experience is intentionally designed around immersive food and drink pairings rather than a larger number of smaller samples. We focus on creating a relaxed afternoon featuring generous portions, thoughtfully selected beverages, and memorable experiences with some of our favorite local partners.
As for Garry, he certainly has a big personality and a unique guiding style. While we understand that style may not be for everyone, we were surprised to read your comments, as he came away from the afternoon feeling that your group had a wonderful time together.
