5 Star Food Tour - Plenty of Delicious Samplings
alexcV9636YV, October 2026
The Market to Tavern food tour was phenomenal. Starting from the city's central market halla and ending at a local winery, the tour lasted about 2.5 hours and was a delicious trip through a lot of the street foods and traditional foods of Hungary. Starting with a sampling of pickled vegetables, continuing through street foods like Langos and sausages, before ending with a wine sampling, goulash, and dessert, there's plenty to try. Definitely recommend coming having skipped breakfast! Group size for us was twenty split into two groups of 10 by the two tour guides. Our specific guide, Eszter, was wonderful and very knowledgeable. Price is definitely in the right range as well - you learn a lot, try a lot, and even get to leave with some ideas for where to eat in town further down the road. I personally went with an adult sibling of mine, and would say that the tour is best for adults: couples, friends, or family; the wine and spirit you try on the tour is not to be missed, and it'd be awkward to have someone around who couldn't sample!
An additional recommendation? If you see something you like/want to pick up while at the Market Hall, just go ahead and circle back around to it after the tour; you'll wind up about 10 minutes away from it by the end with plenty of time to get in a bit of shopping before continuing on to your next destination. I personally picked up some Hungarian paprika and saffron, as I'm a home cook.
Response from the operator · Princess M Hi Alex, thank you for sharing your experience! We’re glad you enjoyed discovering Budapest’s food and culture with Eszter. We hope the paprika and other local ingredients you picked up at the market bring a little taste of Hungary to your home cooking!
