This excursion is set in the Ribeira dos Caldeirões Natural Park, a spectacular location in the northeastern part of São Miguel island, approximately a 45-minute drive from Ponta Delgada.
Upon arrival, you'll receive your personal equipment. A short 15-minute walk will lead us to the first safety briefing point.
We'll then continue with a brief uphill scramble, followed by a second safety briefing where rappelling techniques will be demonstrated. Another 10-minute walk brings us to the canyon's starting point, where the adventure truly begins!
At the top of the canyon, your adventure continues with optional jumps (ranging from 2 to 7 meters), a natural waterslide, and rappels (between 5 and 15 meters). The return journey follows the initial path back to the starting point.
Please note: The specific itinerary, including jumps, rappels, and other techniques, is subject to local conditions and the season. The terrain, landscape, and stream flow can change throughout the year.

We did the canyoning experience in São Miguel with Fun Activities Azores as a family and it was fantastic. The guides were professional, friendly and made us feel safe the whole time, even on the more challenging parts. We had a great time canyoning. The team was friendly, patient, and focused on safety. They took some great pictures and videos for us. If there is anyone in your group who does not want to participate in canyoning, the meeting point (Ribiera Grande) is a great place to wait while the others are on the adventure. There is hiking, waterfalls, a cafe, and gift shop.
