The Marble Mountains
The Marble Mountains in Da Nang comprise five limestone hills, serving as both a tourist attraction and a site of Buddhist worship.
This natural wonder, a gift to Da Nang, blends ecological beauty with spiritual and cultural significance, drawing many visitors.
According to Cham legend, a dragon once laid an egg on Non Nuoc beach, from which a beautiful girl emerged. The shattered eggshell formed the five magical mountains.
In 1825, Emperor Minh Mang named the complex Marble Mountains, or 'Ngu Hanh Son' in Vietnamese, assigning each mountain the name of one of the five elements: metal, water, fire, wood, and earth. These names persist today, with the Marble Mountains celebrated for their majestic peaks, caves, and temples.
