The excursion was well organised and suited what we looking for whilst in Catania. There was proximal and clear communication from the tour company prior to departure, a safe and competent driver and suitable mix of activities on the excursion. We also liked the small group size. We are a mature couple (over 65 and moderately fit) and this tour provided experiences that we felt quite capable of managing. We learnt a great deal about Etna, volcanoes and the historical impacts of past eruptions on local communities from the well informed tour guide who spoke in both Italian and English which worked well. .
The lunch was generous too! Undertaking the morning tour suited our holiday plans perfectly.

Great tour but has some caveats

Not sure why the tour was not the same experience for everyone in the van. When I booked it there was no option for the cable car and it said that you may not have enough time to ride the cable if you buy tickets on your own, yet the rest of the group had tickets and did. The tour guide Francesco did an awesome job to make it up to us by taking us personally to a couple of points of interest. There was no walking tour with hard hats as described in the original booking if you are really wanting this. It did not matter to us. Also, the meeting point is quite a bit of a walk from the cruise terminal even though cruise terminal was the choice when booking. It does make a difference for those who can't walk such distances.
