Gergeti Trinity Church
Visit the Gergeti Trinity Church, commonly known as the Holy Trinity Church, situated near Gergeti village. Located on the right bank of the Chkheri river at 2170 meters above sea level, beneath Mount Kazbegi, this 14th-century church is the sole cross-dome church in the Khevi province. It historically served as a sanctuary for precious relics from Mtskheta, including Saint Nino’s Cross, during times of danger. Despite religious services being prohibited during the Soviet era, the church remained a popular tourist destination and is currently an active place of worship for the Georgian Orthodox and Apostolic Church. From this vantage point, you'll enjoy panoramic views of the valley and the majestic 5047-meter Mount Kazbegi. Its isolated yet stunning mountain setting makes it Georgia's most iconic tourist attraction.
