A deeper look at Monument Valley
nancydJ4363VA, October 2026
We took an morning extended backcountry tour. Our guide, Dark Sky, shared his deep knowledge of Monument Valley that went far beyond the Hollywood History. Yes we saw the famous sites but the focus was on the history and culture. (He helped everyone get good photographs.) Along with another tour driver, they shared music of flute, guitar and drum that still echo in us. He also explained Diné history, culture and life. I recommend highly!

Monument Valley, a daydream!!!

A truly fantastic day. Larry, our local guide, had us spend a day inside Monument Valley, telling us every interesting fact step by step about what we were seeing, creating almost a family atmosphere. The scenery was beautiful, and above all, the entertainment by the locals with songs and music played by them; the tour is truly recommended.
It is doable by car too, but the experience would not be the same.
