Join your host Putu in her kitchen for a private, hands-on cooking class. Unlike many other TripAdvisor tours, this is a private experience.
You and your host will prepare 2-3 authentic Balinese dishes.
As you chop, grind and grill, Putu will teach you about the spices she uses in her family recipes as well as the medicinal qualities of Balinese ingredients.
Putu's kitchen is simple, with only a two-burner cooktop but you will be impressed by the speed and fluidity with which she prepares a complex menu with multiple dishes.
You will taste a variety of authentic dishes with potential ones being Putu’s grilled eggplant with tomato, grilled fish with Balinese sambal (chili sauce), a curry dish (either chicken, fish or vegetarian) or perhaps a variety of pepes (foods seasoned with local spices, wrapped in banana leaves and steamed).
You can expect the cooking lesson to last about 1-2 hours before you sit down and enjoy the delicious meal you helped prepare with your host and her family.

Join Putu in her home kitchen for a private, hands-on Balinese cooking class held in her ancestral village in Ubud, nestled among lush gardens and tropical orchards.
You’ll be warmly welcomed by her multigenerational family before preparing five authentic dishes together, using fresh ingredients harvested from her own farm.
As you chop, grind, and grill, Putu will share stories behind her family recipes, the vibrant spices she uses, and the healing properties of traditional Balinese ingredients, most of which come straight from her own farm.
Her kitchen may be simple, with just a two-burner cooktop, but you’ll be amazed by the ease and grace with which she brings complex flavors to life.
Your meal will be accompanied by their family’s homegrown rice, cultivated by Putu’s grandparents who are rice farmers.
Beyond cooking, Putu offers warm insights into Hinduism and local life, all with a great sense of humor that makes the experience both meaningful & fun.
Your class lasts about 1.5 hours and ends with a shared meal of everything you’ve prepared.
It’s perfect for food lovers, curious travelers & families with children looking for a deeper connection to Balinese culture and cuisine.
