About the activity

Discover Rabat, Morocco’s capital and one of its four imperial cities, on a day trip from Casablanca. As you arrive, you'll find yourself stepping back to the 12th century with a visit to the iconic Hassan Tower. This towering structure, part of an ambitious mosque project left unfinished by Sultan Yacoub al-Mansour, stands as a testament to the city’s medieval heritage and aspirations. Nearby, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V offers a glimpse into Morocco’s more recent history, its immaculate white silhouette honoring the legacy of the nation’s revered kings and their role in achieving independence. Wander through the Kasbah of the Udayas, a fortress that once guarded the city against invasions and now serves as a peaceful neighborhood with Andalusian-style gardens. Wander through the Medina, where ancient Berber roots meet French colonial touches in a vibrant marketplace. Discover local craftsmanship in traditional souks and see how the city balances its ancient walls with modern life.

The trip to Rabat is definitely worth it. We were very lucky with our driver, who shared lots of information about the city and the surrounding areas throughout the journey. Unfortunately, once we arrived, there was a problem with our assigned guide, who never showed up. Another guide was found at the last minute. He gave us brief explanations at the different stops, rushing through everything. We eventually realised that he had another group of tourists waiting for him. When we arrived at the Kasbah, he told us to finish the rest of the tour on our own and asked us for money as a “tip”. We refused to pay him, explaining that a guide was included in the tour. After a brief argument, he told us we could join his other group for the remaining explanations. At the end of the tour, he asked us for money again. He became quite rude and aggressive when we once more explained that we had already paid for a guide for the entire day. He kept repeating that he was there to do us a favour and that we should compensate him for it. In the end, we gave him some money as a “tip” because he made us feel unsafe, particularly regarding our safety in the Medina’s souk. We reported the incident to the company organising the tour in Rabat, and they were attentive and supportive from the very beginning. They made it clear that we were not supposed to pay the guide anything extra, as everything was already included in the price. Overall, the organisation, the driver and the experience were very good, apart from this unpleasant incident with the guide.

Pick-up was in time from the hotel we then rendezvoused with other travelers elsewhere. The drive from Casablanca to Rabat was comfortable and about 1.5 hrs. We met the guide (Sara) in Rabat, she was amazing!!! Driver was good‘ would highly recommend, however the experience is very dependent on the driver and guide.
Response from the operator · Asma a
Sara really made Rabat come alive for you, so glad the drive over was smooth too. Thanks so much for the recommendation!
