Tour Itinerary
After picking you up at your hotel, we drive to the Flamingos near the Walvis Bay Waterfront. From here, we pass the Ramsar Wetlands and Lagoon, viewing thousands of birds and the pink salt mine lakes on our way to Pelican Point. At Pelican Point, we visit the seal colony, which numbers around 70,000 individuals. Our journey then takes us south towards the towering dunes where the desert meets the sea, offering breathtaking views and an adrenaline-fueled dune drive. We'll search for wildlife in this desolate desert area, discuss the region's history, and admire this beautiful but harsh landscape. Finally, we return you to your hotel, filled with unforgettable memories. After this thrilling day, you will enjoy your sundowner.

Walvis Bay
We stop at the Walvis Bay Lagoon to observe thousands of flamingos and other waders in the important Ramsar Wetland. This area is known to host around 250,000 birds at certain times. We then head north to the seal colony, where approximately 70,000 seals can be observed up close. If we are fortunate, we might spot a jackal searching for food.

Meeting point and return

We pick up guests from hotels in Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, as well as from the Walvis Bay Harbor and Airport. Our tour starts in Swakopmund, with pick-up in Walvis Bay occurring 30 minutes later.

For cruise liner passengers: we will be waiting at the port after the first gate with a gazebo displaying our logo. Your guide will also hold a name board.

Cruise liner passengers: your tour pick-up time begins one hour after docking. The tour will depart no later than one and a half hours after the pick-up time. Latecomers will be considered a no-show.

Hitchhiking Seals and Dune Drives!

awesome experience and an absolute can’t-miss if you’re stopping in Swakopmund. The combination of driving through the dunes and kayaking with the seals made for one of the most fun and memorable days of our trip. We also felt lucky to have Volker as our guide. He’s somehow the perfect combination of rugged, adventurous and a little crazy — in the best possible way — while also being incredibly warm, friendly and easy to spend the day with. He answered every question we threw at him, tailored the experience to us, and was simply an awesome guide. When you’re spending seven or eight hours with one person, having a great guide makes a huge difference, and I’d highly recommend asking for Volker. The highlight may have been a hitchhiking seal that hopped onto our kayak and came along for the ride for a few minutes — a unique and hilarious experience. From beginning to end, we were impressed with the excursion and the team behind it. A great day and one we’d highly recommend.

A must for every Swakopmund visit, which ideally combines the seals/flamingos/desert foxes with the dune tour in about 6 1/2 hours. With Victor (among others, German/English speaking) as a guide, it was an ideal day trip, including pickup from the hotel.

We had a fantastic day! Kayaking with the seals was incredibly fun. The seals are just swimming around you, which makes it a very special and unique experience. The ride through the dunes was also very fun. We saw a lot on the way and the lunch between the springboks was beautiful. Our guide Leclue was really fantastic. He knows a lot and told us all sorts of interesting things about the area and the animals. Besides, he has a wonderful sense of humor, which made the day even more fun. We really enjoyed this activity and would definitely recommend it!
