Our adventure begins with a drive through Walvis Bay's lagoon wetlands, a haven for thousands of flamingos. We'll pass the immense Salt Mine, which produces 100,000 tons of salt monthly, and continue south along the coast towards Sandwich Harbour, where the dune belt dramatically meets the ocean.
Experience the powerful waves shaping the dunes at high tide, which can sometimes make access to this remote and beautiful area challenging. Prepare for a thrilling roller-coaster ride up the dunes to a viewpoint offering surprise vistas and the profound quietude of the desert ambiance. The vast expanse of sand and dunes possesses a truly unique magic.

Our tour proceeds through the Walvis Bay lagoon wetlands, recognized under the Ramsar convention. This area hosts up to 250,000 birds from 54 different species, including pelicans, flamingos, plovers, sandpipers, and other endemic species.
During this stop, we will reduce tire pressure and take the opportunity to discuss the diverse birdlife present.

We offer pick-up services from any hotel, guesthouse, or bed & breakfast located along the coast between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.
Pick-up is also available at Walvis Bay Harbor and Airport. Kindly provide your arrival times.
For afternoon tours, we can arrange pick-up after your other activities, such as a Catamaran Seal Cruise or kayaking.
The tour commences in Swakopmund, with pick-ups in Walvis Bay occurring 30 minutes after the advertised start time.
Cruise liner passengers: Please note that we will be present at the port after the first gate, identifiable by a gazebo displaying our logo. Your guide will also hold a name board.
For cruise liner passengers, your pick-up time will begin one hour after docking. The tour will depart no later than one and a half hours after your pick-up time. Late arrivals will be considered a no-show.
Infants must sit on an adult's lap during the tour. This tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries. This tour is not recommended for pregnant travelers. This tour is not recommended for travelers with cardiovascular health concerns. Participants should possess a moderate level of physical fitness. A minimum of 2 participants is required for this experience. If the minimum is not met, you will be offered an alternative date, a different experience, or a full refund. This experience is rarely cancelled due to weather. While rain is uncommon, strong desert winds can occur. If cancellation is necessary due to weather, rescheduling or a full refund will be offered. You have the option to upgrade this tour to include champagne, oysters, and sushi. Please inform us of any special occasions or if you desire a premium experience. We reserve the right to modify the route based on weather, tide, or safety considerations. This tour can be booked as a Private Tour for a minimum of 1 person and a maximum of 6 people per vehicle. Scenic Sandwich Harbor Tour HD Duration: 5 hours A light meal and drinks are included. Operates in a Land Cruiser. Pick-up service is included. Wear comfortable clothing and bring layers, as temperatures can vary. Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat are essential due to the strong sun. Bring a camera to capture the stunning scenery and wildlife. Stay hydrated; water is provided, but you may wish to bring extra. Listen carefully to your guide's instructions for safety and enjoyment. Be prepared for an adventurous ride with potential for exciting dune driving. For a full refund, please ensure your cancellation is made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure time.
