AN EXPERIENCE WITH YOU KNOW! S.R.L. THAT WE CONSIDER COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND EXTREMELY SERIOUS
On 3 October 2026, we booked a boat excursion for two people with You Know! S.r.l. along the Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi coasts, paying EUR 344.13.
What was advertised was a complete sightseeing excursion, including round-trip transportation from Naples, a professional skipper, appetizers, a Caprese-style lunch, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, a sightseeing itinerary along the coast and organized return transportation. The company’s own conditions also stated that good weather was required and that, if the excursion was cancelled because of poor weather conditions, an alternative date or a full refund would be offered.
What we actually experienced was completely different.
The boat travelled towards Positano at a speed which, given the sea conditions we were experiencing, caused repeated impacts, violent movements, discomfort and seasickness. It bore no resemblance whatsoever to the relaxed sightseeing experience we had purchased.
We did not receive the advertised appetizers. We did not receive the advertised lunch. The contracted itinerary was not completed. The excursion was not completed. And we had to organize our own return journey.
But the most serious incident happened during the navigation:
THE SKIPPER FELL INTO THE SEA.
This is not an opinion. It is a fact that the company itself later acknowledged in writing.
Even more concerning is the explanation subsequently given by the company itself: that the skipper allegedly fell after tripping over a bottle that had been left unsecured on board.
We are not going to make accusations that we cannot prove. We are not publicly claiming that the skipper was under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other substance because we do not have evidence to state that as a fact. However, given the seriousness of the incident, we believe it is entirely legitimate for the competent maritime authority to investigate whether the skipper was fully fit for duty and whether fatigue, alcohol, drugs, medication, a medical condition, inadequate onboard safety or any other circumstance may have contributed.
After leaving Positano, we had to pay EUR 44 for ferry tickets from Positano to Sorrento. When we arrived in Sorrento, the transportation which the company now claims had been available to us was not accessible from the place where the ferry left us. We were quoted approximately EUR 65 for a taxi just to reach the point from which that alleged transport was supposed to depart.
Rather than increasing the losses even further, we chose to take a direct ferry from Sorrento to Naples, costing EUR 38 for two passengers. In other words, far from artificially inflating our expenses, we tried to minimize them.
We also had to pay EUR 100 in documented food and drink expenses which we would not have incurred in those circumstances had the services included in the excursion actually been provided.
Our total claim amounts to EUR 526.13:
- EUR 344.13 for the excursion
- EUR 44 for Positano–Sorrento ferry tickets
- EUR 38 for Sorrento–Naples ferry tickets
- EUR 100 for replacement food and refreshments
And what has You Know! offered?
The company has offered only 50% of the excursion price and partial reimbursement of the transport costs.
We rejected that proposal.
Because this is not a disagreement about whether we “liked” the excursion or not.
This is about a service which, in our experience, was not delivered as advertised, included services that were not provided, an excursion that was not completed, additional expenses that we were forced to incur and, above all, a serious safety incident in which the skipper himself ended up in the sea.
We have formally demanded a full reimbursement of EUR 526.13 and have informed the company that, if the matter is not resolved, we will pursue the appropriate complaint and enforcement channels, including the Italian Coast Guard / Harbour Master’s Office, AGCM, the relevant Italian tourism and administrative authorities, the European Consumer Centre, ADR through the Naples Chamber of Commerce, our card issuer and, if necessary, the European Small Claims Procedure.
We have retained and documented the booking, the contractual conditions, ferry tickets, receipts, the full WhatsApp correspondence and the company’s own written response.
We are not trying to exaggerate anything. We do not need to. The facts are serious enough on their own.
We are asking for something very simple:
that a company take full responsibility for a service that was not provided under the conditions in which it was sold, and for the financial consequences caused by that failure.
We will update this post with the company’s final response and with the progress of the formal complaints.

AN EXPERIENCE THAT WE CONSIDER UNACCEPTABLE AND VERY SERIOUS WITH YOU KNOW! S.R.L.

AN EXPERIENCE THAT WE CONSIDER UNACCEPTABLE AND VERY SERIOUS WITH YOU KNOW! S.R.L.
On October 3, 2026, we contracted with You Know! S.r.l. a boat excursion for two people along the coast of Sorrento, Positano, and Amalfi, paying €344.13.
What was advertised was a complete tourist excursion, with round-trip transfer from Naples, a professional skipper, appetizers, a Caprese-style lunch, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, a sightseeing tour along the coast, and an organized return. Furthermore, the terms themselves indicated that the activity required good weather and that, if it were canceled due to bad weather conditions, another date or a full refund would be offered.
What we experienced was radically different.
The boat sailed toward Positano at a speed that, given the sea conditions we were enduring, caused continuous pounding, violent movements, discomfort, and seasickness. That did not resemble at all the relaxed and panoramic tourist experience we had contracted. Pasted text
We did not receive the advertised appetizers. We did not receive the advertised lunch. The contracted itinerary was not completed. The excursion was not completed. And we had to organize ourselves to return.
But the most serious thing happened during the navigation:
THE SKIPPER FELL INTO THE SEA.
This is not an opinion. It is a fact that the company itself has subsequently acknowledged in writing.
And it is even more worrying that the explanation given by the company itself is that the skipper had fallen after tripping over a bottle that was unsecured on board.
We are not going to make accusations that we cannot prove. We are not going to publicly state that the skipper was under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other substance because we do not have proof to state it. But given an incident of this severity, we consider it completely legitimate for the competent maritime authority to investigate whether the skipper was in full condition to provide the service and whether fatigue, alcohol, drugs, medication, a medical problem, poor safety on board, or any other circumstance could have influenced it.
After leaving Positano we had to pay €44 for Positano–Sorrento ferries. Upon arriving in Sorrento, the transport that the company now says it had available was not accessible from the point where we arrived. To get to the place from which that transport was supposedly departing, we were asked for approximately €65 for a taxi.
In order not to increase the damages even further, we opted to buy a direct ferry from Sorrento to Naples for €38 for two people. That is to say, far from artificially increasing the expenses, we tried to reduce them.
We also had to assume €100 documented in food and drinks that we would not have had to pay under those terms if the services included in the excursion had been provided.
Our total claim amounts to €526.13:
- €344.13 for the excursion.
- €44 for Positano–Sorrento.
- €38 for Sorrento–Naples.
- €100 for food and substitute drinks. Pasted text
And what has been You Know!'s response?
The company has offered only 50% of the excursion price and partial compensation for transportation.
We have rejected it.
Because this is not a discussion about whether we "liked" an excursion "more or less."
We are talking about a service that, in our experience, was not provided as it was sold, about included services that we did not receive, about an excursion that was not finished, about additional expenses that we had to assume and, above all, about a safety incident in which the skipper himself ended up in the water.
We have formally requested a full refund of €526.13 and have communicated to the company that, if it does not resolve the situation, we will turn to the competent complaint and control channels, including the Guardia Costiera / Capitaneria di Porto, AGCM, Italian tourism and administrative authorities, the European Consumer Centre, the ADR of the Naples Chamber of Commerce, the card-issuing entity and, if necessary, the European small claims procedure.
We have saved and documented the reservation, the contracted conditions, the ferry tickets, the expenses, the complete WhatsApp conversations and the company's own response.
We are not looking to exaggerate. We do not need to. The facts, on their own, are serious enough.
The only thing we are asking for is something elementary:
that a company take full responsibility for a service it did not provide under the contracted conditions and for the economic consequences it caused us.
We will update this post with the company's final response and the progress of the formal complaints.

Excellent value and great itinerary

This excursion was amazing. While the van ride was uncomfortable due to lack of leg room and ability to adjust seat, the boat ride and stops were marvelous. On the way out, crew described various points of interest and offered water, iced tea, coke and beer. Stops for swimming were Devine. Lunch was greatly appreciated posted as both Positano and Amalfi have outrageous prices. Don’t bother with an afternoon drink at either stop. Wait for the return journey to enjoy offered prosecco and limoncello with light snack. Excellent value.

Beautiful ride, scenery and swimming.
Christine_B, October 2026
The host and captain were both friendly. The ride was fun and highlights of the coastline were pointed out. Stops for swimming were devine. Lunch was greatly appreciated as prices in both Positano and Amalfi are ridiculous. Don’t bother getting a drink in town. Wait for the prosecco and limoncello in the ride home with light snack. One downside for me, personally, was the lack of good boat stairs and handles for exiting the water. I have neuropathy and arthritis and the round stair rungs made it difficult to get out of the water. Still staff was more than willing to help. Absolutely worth the cost. It is a full lively day.
