Chengdu
Chengdu is recognized globally as a culinary destination for numerous reasons. It's a UNESCO City of Gastronomy and boasts the most popular Chinese cuisine within China. Furthermore, it has the highest ratio of restaurants per capita in the entire country. Despite this, many visitors have limited knowledge of Chengdu's food scene. Travel by tuktuk to discover hidden gems, including street food, sit-down restaurants, and family-run eateries: Chengdu Street Crepes: A beloved local street food, available in sweet, savory, spicy, or unusual flavor profiles at a stall that has become a shop. Sichuan-style Wontons: Learn why locals refer to them as “Chaoshou” at a family restaurant where they are prepared fresh to order. A Variety of Noodles: Dandan noodles, possibly the original hawker dish, were once sold on the streets by vendors carrying ingredients on bamboo poles. Classic Sichuan Dishes: Savor local specialties such as Mapo Tofu, with many non-spicy options also available.

Fantastic Chengdu Local Spots Food Tour
EdinburghK, October 2026
Fantastic tour with Rose. The food was excellent and all the meat was of a good quality (we were quite worried having had a few very gristly meats in our solo attempts). The TukTuks let you move between various spots in Chengdu with no hassle. The tour provided more than enough food / drink for the group and Rose was happy to accommodate or answer questions throughout. We also received a set of stamps, post card and gift bags at the end. Highly recommend if your visiting Chengdu.

Wonderful food tour
Iggy775, October 2026
Fantastic experience. Lots of different foods to try. Tuk Tuk experience - lovely tuk tuk drivers. Guide Heaton was great - so friendly and kind and full of great knowledge and passion for Chengdu food. Felt like we were out with a friend. The other two women in our group were fun too. Lots of laughs. Highly recommended

Rabbit head- if I must!
HappyDwarf, October 2026
Outstanding night with Clare. We tried some amazing local dishes at many varied sites. All delicious...even the rabbit head. We had a lively group and the locals included us in their drinking games. It was very memorable and highly recommended 👌

I had a great time with Local Eats! Our guide, Iris, was so friendly and informative, she explained all of the dishes well and was very attentive to everyone. This tour is a great idea if you feel a little lost trying to explore all of Chengdu's food options and want to enjoy a fun evening.
