Before or after your ride, visit the John Bell Museum at the depot. It showcases the railroad's history and artifacts from its early days, along with rich information about Clarkdale, Jerome, and the Yavapai-Apache Nation.

Meeting point and return

Departure Point: Verde Canyon Railroad Train Depot in Clarkdale, Arizona

Address: 300 North Broadway, Clarkdale, Arizona 86324

Directions from Phoenix: Allow approximately 2 hours for the drive.

Take I-17 North to exit 287 (Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Clarkdale). Turn left (west) over the freeway onto Hwy 260.

Continue on Hwy 260 for about 14 miles until you reach the fifth traffic light. Turn left at this light onto Main Street (historic 89A).

Drive through Old Town Cottonwood, passing the turnoff for Tuzigoot National Monument. Look for a sign on the corner indicating “Verde Canyon Railroad.”

Bear right onto Broadway, cross the single-lane bridge, and park in the designated area across the street from the depot.

Directions from Sedona: Allow approximately 40 minutes for the drive.

Head southwest towards Cottonwood on Hwy 89A, then take Cornville Road/Mingus Avenue.

Turn right onto Mingus Avenue and proceed west for 1.8 miles to North Main Street (Historic 89A).

Turn right and continue on Main Street through Old Town Cottonwood, past the Tuzigoot National Monument turnoff, until you see the “Verde Canyon Railroad” sign on the corner.

Bear right onto Broadway, cross the one-lane bridge, and park in the designated parking area across from the depot.
