Playa Mahahual
Upon your return from the wonderful Chacchoben site, you can enjoy, discover, and relax on the idyllic beach of our small town called "Mahahual". This place comes alive when cruise ships arrive at Costa Maya port. Mahahual's beaches are among the most extensive in the Mexican Caribbean, with endless kilometers of white sand, palm trees, and an almost imperceptible turquoise sea thanks to the "Banco Chinchorro" reef acting as a breakwater. Its warm waters invite you to spend the day swimming, stroll along the boulevard filled with souvenir shops, or simply relax and enjoy beachfront massages and authentic Mexican cuisine. 1 hour 30 minutes, entrance included

Great Tour! Excellent company, friendly staff
M1402XGnathang, October 2026
We sailed on MSC World America and this excursion through the ship was $360+ for our family of four, not including beach time. We booked through Toucan Tours and had a phenomenal experience for a significantly lower price! They picked us up in a shuttle from port and brought us to check in at their main office, where we waited for a very short time before boarding a large bus. Eliseo was our tour guide. He was fun, friendly, engaging, and silly in all the ways you'd want a tour guide to be while at the same time offering knowledge and facts about the area of Costa Maya, the Mayan heritage, and the ruins themselves. Eliseo runs an efficient experience and keeps you moving. The hour in the ruins goes by so very quick. After the tour, Antonio stepped in to take us to a beach resort for 1.5 hours. This was an excellent break as we were hot, sweaty, exhausted, and in need of some relaxation. Antonio made sure we were all comfortable and knew where to be and what time for pickup. Did i mention that the tour provides cold bottled water the entire 5 hour trip? After the beach we were taken directly back to Port on the same bus. Excellent value, we had an awesome time, the staff were all friendly and helpful, and we could not have asked for a better experience!
