Great day out and one I’d highly recommend. Definitely the way to go is the faster boat, I saw a few that would take up to 2 hours there and 2 hours back.
We booked the hotel pick up. I didn’t hear anything initially at booking point as you don’t indicate at booking where you are staying. About an hour after booking, a WhatsApp message asked hotel and it was organised. Where we were staying (Kolymbia), we were far out so the transfer was over an hour.
The guys on the boat were great. Everything very easy and smooth. The island itself is so picturesque and definitely worth a visit. The bay was slightly disappointing as the sunlight was hidden behind the mountains - but we were visiting in October. We were surprised at the number of people who fancied the jump in - they loved it.
Would I book again? - yes, would I recommend? - yes, highly!

We have been to Symi island now 3 times with Rhodes Sea Lines 🌊 🚤
We book directly with company online as this guarantees you your seats especially in peak season months when trips are busy.
You pay your 10€ deposit online and then the rest at the check in desk at Mandraki harbour .
You are then quickly boarded onto the boat and depart for Symi island promptly .
If travelling from outwith Rhodes I strongly advise you leave with plenty time as parking near the port is limited and often you have to park and walk to the harbour .
The boat trip itself is just under an hour , time passes quickly and you can enjoy the views from onboard . We recommend sitting up top deck as the sea’s can be choppy and you get a little sea sprayed on bottom deck 🙈🌊
The staff are very friendly and offer fleece jackets to keep your warm during the travel 🙌🏼
Symi island itself is just stunning 😍 🏝️ and is a must have trip whilst in Rhodes!! You get 3 hours on Symi island itself and then a 30 minute swim stop at St George’s bay on the way back to Rhodes!
Even in October we enjoyed the swim and there waters were surprisingly warm 🌊 ☀️
Next summer we will book to visit chalki with Rhodes sea lines for a new experience and cannot recommend the team enough 🙌🏼 thanks for an amazing day during our holiday in Rhodes!!!! 🇬🇷
