Casa Crespo is the heart of Oaxacan cuisine. It's a place where tradition thrives, and Chef Oscar Carrizosa, originally from the Mixteca region, masterfully blends the diverse ingredients of Oaxaca's 16 ethnic groups with the authentic flavors passed down from his grandmother. This is the ideal setting to discover the rich tastes and aromas of Oaxacan food through Oscar's engaging classes.
Oscar, known for his friendly demeanor, will guide you in identifying and appreciating the subtle aromas of each dish. He presents various menu possibilities, allowing students to choose what they wish to cook, as there is no fixed menu. You'll learn to prepare three types of tortillas, three kinds of salsas, an appetizer, a soup, a mole, a dessert, and a traditional drink. These are dishes designed to leave a lasting impression on anyone who appreciates fine food.

We had an incredible time, it was the happiest day of my life and the employees were very friendly and attentive, Caleb and Jessie I think they were called, and the people from the bike tour were very good people, I congratulate them... the only thing is that they should maintain the arrival areas and paint them so they look nicer and more attractive, that attracts people, the areas should be clean so they don't look deteriorated, but other than that the tour was ufffffff greattttttttttttttt

Amazing experience

We were lucky, because we were just the two of us, so we had basically a private class :). Oscar was a really nice host, he explained everything, and even more. In the market he intruduced us to different ingredients and talk about how to use them. During the cooking part, we were part of every process, and meanwhile we were cooking the rest of the team made sure we had everything and cleaned every time it was needed. We made two appertizers, a soup, a main course and even a dessert!

The walk to the market is a slight uphill incline. Oscar provided information about the different vegetables, plants and even flowers we passed along the walk to the market.

We had an amazing tour with Oscar and his team! This was actually my second time — I had such a great experience the first time that I came back with my family. We learned so much about Oaxaca, the cuisine, and cooking, and a big bonus was how kind and welcoming everyone was.
My father is elderly and uses a wheelchair, and the team made accommodations so he could still join us at the market. It meant so much to have him be part of the experience with us.
