2 Khor Virap
Khor Virap is the most famous pilgrimage site in Armenia, as it is directly connected with the adoption of Christianity.
Christianity in Armenia was adopted in 301 AD due to the efforts of Saint Gregory The Illuminator, who was imprisoned in a dungeon before converting King Trdat The 3rd.
A church of Khor Virap monastery was built in the 17th century over this dungeon.
From the monastery, you can admire the stunning view of the Biblical Mount Ararat.

3 Noravank Monastery
Passing a narrow road surrounded by rocks with a hundred caves, you will discover a scene of harmony between architecture and nature.
The monastery, adorned with fine architectural solutions and luxurious embellishments, is one of the brightest examples of Armenian architecture from the 13th century.
Noravank consists of St. Karapet Church, St. Gregory The Illuminator Church, and the two-storied St. Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) Church, notable for its ideal constructive and sculptural work.

4 Wings of Tatev
Church bells rang out in Tatev on October 16, 2010, heralding the launch of a program to revive a medieval monastic complex and the opening of the "Wings of Tatev" Ropeway.
The 5.7 km ropeway, built in 11 months, passes through the deep gorge of the Vorotan River and over hills covered with lush forests.
The tramway is supported by three towers between its two terminals.
One terminal is on a hill overlooking the village of Halidzor, and the other is near Tatev Monastery, on the road to Tatev village.
Two cabins operate simultaneously, traveling in opposite directions.
Within approximately 11 minutes, a cabin takes passengers, 30 at a time, from Halidzor village to the magnificent Tatev complex.

5 Tatev Monastery
Among the architectural pillars of Zangezour, the Tatev monastery stands unrivaled.
It was once the wealthiest medieval monastery in Armenia.
Besides being a religious center, Tatev was also an important strategic center of the Syunik kingdom.
Situated in a naturally defended location, Tatev monastery has always been an impregnable fortress.
During unstable political conditions, several secret passages within the fortress led to the canyon, serving as a link between the monastery and the outside world.

A day to remember

A big thank you to our tour guide Marina for managing our bilingual group of Russian and English speakers so well. She was very attentive, caring and shared very interesting stories.
We started our tour from Khor Virap where we learned about how Armenia became the first Christian country. We had the best view to biblical Ararat from there. After we spent an enjoyable time in gorgeous Noravank and headed to a cozy place for lunch. The host at Hakhverdyan’s was very generous and they served mouthwatering food. The final destination was Tatev monastery where we headed by the world’s longest cable car.
Also thank you to our bus driver Spartak for our safe travel.
