Lan Ha Bay, managed by Cat Ba National Park for years, is part of the Halong Bay complex. Covering over 70,000 hectares, the bay boasts hundreds of stunning islets and charming beaches, offering a scene as breathtaking as its neighbor but with a more secluded and untouched feel. Lan Ha Bay is thus an ideal destination for those seeking a tranquil and peaceful vacation.

Lan Ha Bay

Located south of Halong Bay, Lan Ha Bay is by far the smallest of the three primary bays in the area. It comprises around 400 limestone islets spread over 76 km2, and is just as pleasing to the eye as Halong Bay.
Lan Ha Bay features the same jaw-dropping landscape of towering karst outcrops that tourists typically associate with Ha Long and if it weren’t for the conspicuous absence of crowds in Lan Ha Bay, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the two bays

A successful trip
Thomas_T, September 2026
Lucky is the one who is on a small boat. Of course, the colors are not as we know them from the TV, but the experience is simply great! We were on the Sunlight Cruises 69 with only 15 guests. Very relaxed with a very helpful crew. And the food - good portions, unexpected dishes: Of course fish, but also calamari, prawns, oysters, and crabs.
(Prices for drinks = not overpriced)

Definitely a highlight of our holiday!
Menno_and_Manon, July 2026
We love the small groups, makes it much more personal. We had a great group of 13 travelers. We were the only family (our kids are 12 and 14) and had such nice contact with everyone. The staff was great, the scenery is beautiful, the activities were fun! This was definitely one the highlights of our holiday!

Excellent extremely well organised trip, beautiful old boat with only 12 guests, excellent service, delicous meals. Great viewing areas on the boat, beautiful wooded panelled rooms with ensuits, nice activities. Couldn't fault the trio. Scenery magnificent. Highly recommend.

Very nice but too rushed
carolanec577, June 2026
Very nice cruise, the boat and the crew were truly superb. The landscapes are magnificent! However, I find that the announced format of 2 days/1 night is misleading. We arrived on the first day on the boat at 1 PM and left the next day at 12 PM. This amounts to 24 hours, not 2 days... and on the second day, the bike activity took place at 7:45 AM, leaving no time to digest breakfast, and lunch was served at 10:50 AM. We still felt quite rushed to eat quickly and leave. It's a shame

Great mini-cruise with excellent food and enjoyable activities. The guide Tony is very helpful and competent.
The prices for drinks are sometimes excessive.
