Snorkel between two continents at one of the planet's premier diving sites! Silfra is situated in Iceland's Thingvellir National Park. It's a fissure formed by the diverging tectonic plates of the Eurasian and North American continents.
What makes Silfra truly exceptional is not just its geological importance, but also its world-renowned crystal-clear, fresh glacial water. This water source is continuously replenished by a steady flow of drinkable water, offering over 100m visibility and fostering a unique biodiversity within the fissure.
We are the sole operator at Silfra providing both drysuit and wetsuit options simultaneously. This allows members of your group to select their preferred suit type.
We include professional photos as a standard offering, so you can relax without the worry of managing your own camera. However, you are welcome to bring one! Our guides are seasoned professionals with years of experience, adept at capturing the best shots of you and your group.
Activity Schedule
3 h
Meet us at Thingvellir National Park, approximately 50 km from Reykjavik. Once you've met your PADI divemaster certified guide, they will brief you on the tour's procedures and safety measures. Afterward, you'll don your gear and proceed to an extraordinary underwater canyon/fissure, Silfra, formed by the continental plates drifting apart at a rate of about 2 cm per year. Silfra is a freshwater fissure offering visibility of at least 100 meters. The water here is so clear and pristine, it feels like flying. You'll spend approximately 40 minutes in the water. Before departing, your guide will serve a delicious hot chocolate.
We offer the option to pre-book a wetsuit through a separate listing. A wetsuit is recommended for those who wish to dive down or for scuba divers lacking the necessary certifications for a scuba dive. If you are not a confident swimmer, the drysuit is the best choice for you. To accommodate everyone's preferences, we are the only company that provides both wetsuits and drysuits, allowing them to be used within the same group.
Park at “Thingvellir P5” and walk approximately 400m back along the road until you reach a smaller car park with all the snorkel & dive vans. Please be present and ready to meet your guide 15 minutes before your tour is scheduled to begin. Adhere to the main roads and avoid taking any shortcuts to Silfra, particularly during winter.
