Our first destination is Thingvellir National Park, where you will witness the awe-inspiring sight of continental plates diverging.
Here, you can stand with one foot on the North American plate and the other on the Eurasian plate, straddling the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.
Thingvellir holds immense historical and cultural importance for Icelanders, serving as the meeting place for the nation's first parliament for a millennium. Chieftains convened here to enact laws, administer justice, and resolve disputes. Some met their end at the infamous "drowning pool"!
· 40 min
2 Geysir
The next stop on your Golden Circle adventure is the Geysir geothermal area in Haukadalur, famous for its "hot spring" activity and the origin of the word "geyser".
While the "Great Geysir" is now dormant, the nearby Strokkur geyser erupts reliably every few minutes, shooting columns of superheated water high into the air.
You'll detect the scent of sulfur and feel the immense power of nature simmering beneath the Earth's surface!
· 1 h 30 min
3 Gullfoss Falls
Following Geysir, a short drive leads you to another magnificent natural wonder, Gullfoss.
Known as the "Golden Falls," this two-tiered waterfall is fed by glacial meltwater from Langjokull glacier, plunging dramatically into a deep canyon.
The sheer force of these cascades generates considerable mist and spray, so be prepared to get a little damp if you venture too close! On sunny days, the mist creates a constant spectacle of brilliant rainbows.
· 40 min
4 Kerid Crater
We then journey to the South Coast to explore Kerid, a strikingly colorful volcanic crater.
Kerid is relatively young, formed only a few thousand years ago, and its vibrant hues are due to iron deposits within the rocks. The caldera is also adorned with lush, velvety green moss.
Within the crater lies a serene, shallow lake of turquoise water, making Kerid one of Iceland's most visually captivating sites.

5 Sky Lagoon
As we return towards the city, we make our final stop on the Golden Circle tour, which may prove to be the highlight of your day!
The Sky Lagoon offers Iceland's newest spa experience. You'll spend two luxurious hours here, luxuriating in a vast infinity pool with uninterrupted ocean vistas.
Participate in a unique seven-step ritual inspired by Icelandic traditions, blending warm and cold waters with invigorating fresh air.
Additionally, discover a hidden swim-up bar within a cave, a café, and saunas for your enjoyment!
There's no finer way to conclude your Golden Circle adventure than with two hours of bliss at the Sky Lagoon!

Exploring in the rain
K6329BNjosephj, October 2026
Our tour guide for the day was Monica, and she was incredibly friendly, informative, and patient. She made the entire trip feel comfortable, organized, and fun.
It’s definitely a full-day tour, starting around 8:30 in the morning and ending around 7:30 or 8:00 at night. We spent about 45 minutes at each location, which felt like the perfect amount of time to explore the site, take some pictures, and then get back on the bus.
We happened to go on a very rainy day, so the timing actually worked out perfectly. After about 45 minutes outside, we were more than ready to get back on the bus, warm up, and dry off a little before heading to the next stop.
The final stop was Sky Lagoon, where we were given about two hours. That was the perfect way to end the day. After spending the entire day walking around in the rain, relaxing in the warm water felt amazing.
Overall, it was a long but very enjoyable day, and Monica did a great job making the experience comfortable and memorable.
