From Las Vegas, two Grand Canyon day tours listed on WizardTrip go to its west rim, Grand Canyon West, on the lands of the Hualapai tribe. The two tours compared here leave from your hotel in the morning and cross the Mojave Desert; the one with breakfast is back around 5 pm. They have more than 25,000 and more than 13,000 reviews, with ratings of 4.9 out of 5 (checked on 17 October 2026).

Grand Canyon West: what you need to know

Grand Canyon West is not part of Grand Canyon National Park. Both listings make the point: no national park entrance fee is charged, and the listing for the breakfast tour adds that the 100-dollar surcharge for non-US visitors therefore does not apply. Site entry is included in both tours.

On site, two viewpoints shape the visit:

  • Eagle Point, named after the rock formation shaped like an eagle with outstretched wings that faces it. This is where the Skywalk is, along with a village showing traditional Native American dwellings.
  • Guano Point, a 360-degree lookout above the Colorado River, with the remains of a former tramway used to haul guano out of the canyon.

Tour 1: the most reviewed, with Wi-Fi and flight options

Pickup is at 11 Las Vegas hotels, at a time given by the operator: confirm it 72 hours before departure. The coach offers Wi-Fi, water and cereal bars. You spend about 3 hours 30 at Grand Canyon West, between Eagle Point and Guano Point, then on the way back the coach stops at the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, from which you can see Hoover Dam, the Colorado River and Lake Mead.

The basic option does not include lunch. The options add a hot lunch at one of three restaurants (two at Eagle Point, one at Guano Point), the Skywalk, a helicopter flight with 25 minutes on a pontoon boat on the Colorado, or an airplane flight of about 20 minutes. The Skywalk cannot be combined with the helicopter and airplane options.

Tour 2: breakfast and barbecue facing the canyon

The second tour lasts 10 hours 30 and begins with a hot breakfast at a family restaurant on the way. The coach, with toilets and large windows, calls at 7 Strip hotels, from 6 am at the Golden Nugget to 7 am at the Excalibur; you must confirm your pickup point at least 48 hours before.

On the way, a photo stop at the Hoover Dam bridge, then the Joshua tree forest. At the canyon, the barbecue lunch is served at Guano Point, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. The return to Las Vegas is planned for around 5 pm. Optional: the Skywalk, or a 45-minute helicopter flight over the canyon.

The Skywalk: should you do it?

The Skywalk is a horseshoe-shaped glass bridge that juts out about 21 metres beyond the canyon's edge, according to one listing. Nothing but glass between your feet and the void. In both tours, the Skywalk ticket is an option, and it comes with a bonus zipline ticket, subject to availability and weight limits.

The listing for the breakfast tour states that personal phones are now allowed on the Skywalk. With a baby, the listing for the Wi-Fi tour specifies that the child must be carried on the walkway.

And Hoover Dam?

Both canyon tours stop only for a photo on the bridge overlooking the dam. If you want to go inside the structure, a 5-hour-30 half-day tour is devoted to it: a 160-metre descent into the walls of Black Canyon down to the power plant, the visitor centre, and a 45-minute guided tour on top of the dam. It also takes in the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign and Boulder City, and includes a hot lunch. The listing warns that the elevators down to the power plant can close without notice.

Which one to choose?

  • You want to get down to the river: the Wi-Fi tour with the helicopter and boat option.
  • You want all meals included: the tour with breakfast and barbecue.
  • You travel in a wheelchair: both listings accept folding wheelchairs, with a companion's help to board the coach.
  • You have half a day: the Hoover Dam tour.
