Embark on a hike to explore various hidden beaches along a scenic beach and jungle trail.
We will meet in the Zona Romantica, the old town of Puerto Vallarta. From there, we'll use public transportation, just like the locals do!
After a pleasant 25-minute coastal drive, we'll disembark in a charming fishing village. This is where our hike begins, following the riverbank and ascending into the tropical forest, offering breathtaking views.
A short 40-minute hike will lead us to our first destination: Colomitos Beach, officially the smallest beach in Mexico! After a break for photos and relaxation, we'll continue our journey, leaving the crowds behind to discover more secluded beaches.
Here, you'll have the chance to swim in solitude and experience a sense of paradise. If the sea conditions are favorable, we'll visit a hidden spot for snorkeling, where you can observe a rich variety of marine life!
Following this invigorating break, we'll proceed to our final destination: 'Playa las animas'. Here, you can enjoy a delicious local seafood meal (not included).
Finally, we'll take a boat back to our starting point, offering a unique perspective of the bay.

Authentic Adventure! Local Buses, Hidden Beaches & Johnny Jungle
srangel14, October 2026
Massive kudos to our guide Juan, aka "Johnny Jungle"! He was courteous, deeply knowledgeable, and kept the energy high even when the tide was up. We loved that the tour started with a ride on the public bus with the locals—it was a brilliant way to learn how to navigate the transit routes.
The hike up the mountain trail was fantastic and led us to some truly stunning hidden beaches. After soaking it all in, Johnny took us to a local spot for a meal packed with incredible flavor. To top it all off, our boat ride back to the starting point during a quick passing storm was an absolute thrill!
Tips for future travelers:
Bring plenty of water, water shoes (or closed-toe shoes), a towel, and sunblock.
Bring small bills (pesos) for snacks, drinks, and tips—especially if you want photos with the locals' parrots and iguanas.
This was a fantastic experience from start to finish.
