5:30 AM: Pick up from Hanoi Old Quarter (if you book our bus/regular private car). Begin the transfer to Cat Ba Island via bus to Got Pier (Bến Gót). Enjoy a 10-15 minute break on the new 5B highway. At Got Pier, board a speedboat for a 7-10 minute journey to Cai Vieng Harbour (Bến phà Cái Viềng). From Cai Vieng Harbour, take another bus to Cat Ba Town, with drop-off at Beo Harbour.

8:30 AM: For guests staying in Cat Ba, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cat Ba Town or our office at No. 168, 1/4 Street. The journey to Ben Beo Pier takes approximately 10 minutes. At Ben Beo Pier, your tour guide will provide your tickets for the Cat Ba Archipelago bay route, which are included in the tour price.

9:00 AM: Board the boat to Lan Ha Bay. Pass by Cai Beo Fishing Village, the most traditional fishing village in northern Vietnam and one of the largest floating villages in Cat Ba. The cruise continues into the heart of the bay, where you'll be captivated by the natural beauty: a vast expanse of emerald water dotted with hundreds of rocky islands of various sizes and shapes.

We had an absolutely lovely time with fresco! the sights are genuinely unbelievable and the kayaking and jumping off the boat were 10/10. Also the lunch and cooking class were delicious. Would definitely recommend booking. It was just 8 of us on the boat, the waters were very calm and none of the sites were crowded, fresco led an excellent tour!

This tour soooo exceeded expectations! I have to preface this with the reason we booked this tour was the name of the tour company was “Beka” which is my daughter’s nickname. And in all honesty we almost didn’t book as we questioned if it was worth our day after reading some of the reviews here, but after our experience I don’t think the reviews were actually for this trip. But the communication we had with Beka was so great, and soooo much better than the other tours we contacted, that we decided to trust our instincts and go with the company that both had a meaningful name to us and seemed super on the ball. Everything was super smooth from our pickup in Hanoi to our dropoff at the end of the day. The nicest cars we’ve had in Vietnam, kindest drivers, great tour guides, and a really charming boat. Our experience felt really special as it was a smaller group and we could spend more time on activities and less time getting on and off the boat. Each step of the way it felt like we had more- the extra swim when kayaking, kayaking to an additional bay to see the back of the dragon, the multiple cave tour with the beach swim. And every step of the way Alex shared his knowledge and we learned so much. Definitely an adventurous trip, very active with swimming, kayaking a long ways, jumping off the second story of the boat, but our kids loved loved loved it, and it was a great group of adventure travelers. The food was good for gluten free and the self-made spring rolls at the end were a hit after swimming There are lots of choices in Ha Long and Lan Ha bays, it was a bit overwhelming to decide, but I 100% feel we made the right choice and our day couldn’t have been better. Our best boat trip since the Galapagos, and we are soooo grateful to the whole Beka team for making our day amazing. 🤩

Highly Enjoyable but NOT what was advertised

I really enjoyed this experience, but it fell short of what was advertised. A sunset cooking class was listed in the trip description (tbh, this was the clincher for me) and when our guide said ‘tour has come to an end, we’re heading back now’ I asked about the sunset cooking class and he looked at me in bewilderment! Not his fault or his company’s, but the company who sold the experience (BEKA travel)… I think they didn’t have enough people to run their own tour and I was slotted in on another company’s experience?! (which was similar but obviously different). This might also explain why I was a tad confused at times, having 3 different people message me with information/instructions on WhatsApp for this experience! I can’t speak highly enough of the different staff I came into contact with on the day. They run a very tight ship; a well oiled machine coordinating seamless transfers of people from boat to boat, boat to bus, bus to boat… I swapped groups a few times and always ended up in exactly the right spot. I was approached individually and given specific instructions which gave me peace of mind and the staff did many checks & headcounts which speaks to their safety protocols. Lan Ha Bay is stunning, the fishing village was really interesting, kayaking to the cave was fun & swimming time was fab. I got stung by a Fire Jellyfish and my guide rubbed lemon on it for about 5 mins - it was a painful sting and I have big red welts 24hrs later but I was happy with how I was cared for :) The day was massive; 5:40am pick-up & 9:15pm drop-off. I knew what I was in for and was completely happy with the transfer time from Hanoi - don’t complain about spending 6 hrs on a bus if you book Hanoi to Cat Ba; it is what it is. Bus is comfy, with AC & water provided. Overall, a great experience. I’d recommend to others BUT know there is no sunset cooking class!
