Well Worth It — We Finally Felt We’d Seen Scotland
derekp300, October 2026
My wife and I have been to Scotland several times, but until this trip we had never really ventured beyond Glasgow and Edinburgh. Because of that, we always felt as though we hadn’t truly seen Scotland. This three-day Rabbie’s Highlands tour fixed that.
The tour delivered excellent value. We covered a lot of ground, saw a remarkable amount of the Highlands, and visited places we almost certainly would never have discovered on our own.
Our guide, Kylie, was excellent — patient, thoughtful, thorough, and entertaining. She also clearly prioritized safety, which we appreciated.
Rabbie’s choice of stops was a real strength. On the first day, we stopped for lunch at a wonderfully warm, cozy place with a wood-fired stove — exactly the kind of spot we never would have found ourselves. On the third day, we stopped at Columba 1400, another terrific find with great coffee, a nice shop, and a welcoming atmosphere.
And the bathroom breaks were very well timed. Thank you! On a three-day driving tour, that genuinely matters.
Rabbie’s also did an excellent job arranging our bed-and-breakfast in Portree. The location was ideal, right in the middle of town, and the room was clean and comfortable with an excellent breakfast. It was one of the nicest parts of the trip.
A couple of caveats: calling the vehicle a “luxury” mini-coach is probably a bit generous. Ours was a new, clean 16- or 17-passenger Mercedes Sprinter van with useful phone-charging outlets, but the seats were narrow, and we occasionally had to ask for more ventilation.
I’d also take some of the commentary along the way with a grain of salt. A few things presented as fact were not always entirely accurate (for example, comments about energy and renewable-energy policy, the history or treatment of certain television shows, and some of the engineering and decision-making surrounding bridges). But that was also part of the fun. If you’re interested in hearing how a Scot views Scotland and the wider world, you’ll certainly get that, and it added some local character to the experience.
Overall, this was a terrific way to see the Scottish Highlands. We saw a lot, learned a lot, found some wonderful places we never would have found on our own, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Highly recommended.

Absolutely Incredible Tour, Thanks to Jim!
I honestly can’t say enough good things about this tour, and especially our guide, Jim (James Dean Divine). He was absolutely fantastic from beginning to end!
We spent three days exploring the Scottish Highlands and the Isle of Skye, taking in breathtaking scenery, historic castles, charming villages, lochs, mountains, and some of the most beautiful landscapes we’ve ever seen.
What really made the experience special, though, was Jim. The man is an absolute wealth of knowledge! No matter where we were or what we were looking at, he always had a fascinating story to tell. Whether it was Scottish history, local legends, folklore, or little details you would never learn on your own, he seemed to know something about everything. And he had a wonderful way of sharing it all that was both entertaining and genuinely interesting.
Beyond that, he was an excellent driver, incredibly calm, friendly, funny, and just an all-around good guy. He clearly knows these routes inside and out and knew exactly when to visit certain locations to make the most of our time. We never felt rushed, yet somehow managed to see and experience so many amazing things over those three days.
This tour was, without question, the highlight of our entire trip to Scotland, and so much of that was because of Jim. I genuinely cannot imagine having experienced the Highlands and Skye with anyone else. We feel incredibly fortunate that he was our guide.
I would absolutely book another Rabbie’s tour without a moment’s hesitation, but if I had my choice, I’d specifically request Jim again!
Rabbie’s has an absolute gem in Jim, and I hope they realize what an incredible asset he is to their company.
Thank you, Jim, for three unforgettable days. You made an already beautiful part of the world that much more special!

Good trip and very nice...

Good trip and very nice accomodations. If the weather is bad expect to get some Whiskey tasting, coffee, and shopping experiences. None of which I personally had any interest in doing, sadly. There were some options to do activities such as Eilean Donan Castle, Fairy Pools/Glen Brittle/Old Sligachan Bridge (which were great) and the Dunvegan Castle and gardens, pretty. Some of our group went to Neist Point for a walk. Was just sad not to see the big items on Skye due to the weather. Our tour guide, David was terrific and very knowledgeable about history of Scotland, tried his very best to find us activities that would fit with the weather. Wish we could have seen Pitlochry instead of a rest area with cows, but we did have a short, unexpected, stop at Culloden Field for lunch. Thank you David!

Love, love, love! We had an amazing 3 day tour with Shea as our tour guide. Absolutely loved the Isle of Skye and the stops we made along the way. Shea was so easy going and you could tell she loved Scotland and sharing it with visitors. Our B&B in Portree was great. We would happily recommend this 3 day trip to others!
