Bordeaux, once known as Burdigala, has a history stretching back 2,000 years before becoming the world's wine capital. Join Monsieur Bacchus for a 3-hour journey through this rich past, guided by a local resident. We'll cycle approximately 13 kilometers on flat terrain, starting from the Roman Palais Gallien. Our route includes the Saint-André Cathedral and the medieval Grosse Cloche, where we'll pause for a traditional canelé from our partner, Cassonade. Crossing the Garonne River via the Pont de Pierre offers stunning views of the UNESCO-listed riverfront. We'll then visit Darwin, a vibrant creative hub on the right bank, before cycling back over the Chaban-Delmas bridge towards the Chartrons, the historic district of wine merchants. Our guides are passionate locals who share personal stories, favorite spots, and insider tips. Need recommendations for dinner or the best wine bars? Just ask! This tour is designed for small groups, with a maximum of 12 guests per guide. Comfortable Dutch bikes and helmets are provided. Our meeting point is conveniently situated just a brisk 3 to 4-minute stroll from the Jardin Public or Paul Doumer tram stops on Line C. Look out for the garage displaying the letters 'Bacchus' prominently.

Meeting Point: To ensure a smooth start, please arrive at 9:20 am for morning tours or 2:15 pm for afternoon tours. We allow a 5-minute grace period for any unforeseen delays.

Refund Policy: As a small business, we are unable to provide refunds if you arrive late or cannot attend the tour. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.

Essential Details: - Minimum Height Requirement: The minimum height for participants is 150 cm (5 feet). If you do not meet this requirement, your reservation may be canceled without a refund.

- Physical Fitness: You don’t need to be an athlete, but you should be in good health. Expect to cycle approximately 12 kilometers over 3 hours.

- Sustainability: In line with our commitment to being plastic-free, we do not provide plastic water bottles. We recommend bringing a reusable bottle, as there are plenty of water refill points throughout the city.

- Bike Riding Confidence: It's essential to be comfortable and confident riding a bike. If you're not, it may not be the best time to join. Accidents can happen, and you are responsible for your actions and behavior. We strongly recommend travel insurance to cover any incidents. Please ensure your safety and the group’s by being prepared.

A lovely way to see a lot of Bordeaux in a few hours. Our lovely guide ‘Flavi’ took us at a leisurely pace to all the historical sites of interest, whilst navigating the busy streets, in a calm, safe way. We even managed to circumnavigate the student protests with ease! Great way to spend an afternoon and don’t worry about not having been on a bike in a while, you pick it up very quickly on their fab bikes.

A great way to see and learn about Bordeaux

Flavie was there to meet us in a quiet residential area. She was expecting two more guests, but they cancelled at the last minute, so we had the tour to ourselves. The bikes were good and Flavie was thorough with the safety briefing. She took us to gardens, churches, an amphitheater and gave us an entertaining history of Bordeaux and its complex relationship with England. There were some street demonstrations by school students, which added to the atmosphere. Three quarters of the way through the tour, the heavens opened, and we nearly avoided getting drenched, but not quite. Flavie and her partner sheltered us in their garage after the tour and gave us each a poncho to head out to the tram stop. Highly recommended.
