More talk than walk
Julie_D, October 2026
On Viator the tour description wasn’t very detailed but I was expecting 90 mins of walking. In fact you probably only do 25 mins of actual walking as you stop every 5-10 mins for some information about the volcano; area.
We were collected from our hotel and there was 8 in our party. Went to collect shoes and coat for those that needed it but trainers are suitable ( maybe not white ones ) . We then went to a cave which was unremarkable .
Then back on mini van to a flat area where we walked to some old non active craters . Back on bus to winery for a sandwich and a glass of white / red and almond walk.
This trip is suitable if you want an easy stroll out but if you want to get nearer the top book a different one. I did know that it was going to be a low level walk I was just expecting more walking . Dan was our guide and he was very informative .

You had to hike a little. It wasn’t too challenging but just to be aware. Wear good footwear and a jacket. The experience was amazing! Riccardo our guide was awesome!

Worthwhile
Mike_F, October 2026
We are 68 and in good health. The hike was only 1.5 hrs and not difficult. You don't go anywhere close to the summit/crater, staying in the low area. Daniele was our guide, who was extremely informative, humorous and kind. The tour was a total of 6 hrs, including lunch at a vineyard, which was quite good. I would have preferred if the hike was a bit longer.

Mr Etna- The Friendly Volcano
JimTudda, October 2026
The Mt. Etna 1/2 day trip was awesome. Our guide Diego picked us up close to our hotel. He was very knowledgeable and the tour was very informative- I know a lot more about volcanoes than before. The hike itself was beautiful. Diego set a very reasonable pace, and gave options for those who may not want to do every hill. We got to go in a nearby cavewe and we finished the tour by sampling some wine at a nearby winery. An excellent tour!
