Seafood paella is Valencia's culinary gift to the coast. This hands-on cooking class will teach you the authentic recipe, not a simplified version.
Learn to prepare genuine seafood paella with its traditional salmorreta sofrito, following the methods perfected by Valencian chefs over generations. Expect fresh seafood and no shortcuts, just authentic techniques from local chefs who grew up making it.
Your experience begins at Ruzafa Market, a charming neighborhood market where locals shop for fresh ingredients, away from the tourist crowds of the Central Market.
Then, join our small-group workshop to master the essential secrets: creating the rich salmorreta base, achieving the perfect socarrat (the coveted crispy rice crust), using Albufera rice from Valencia's own fields, and expertly balancing saffron.
While your paella is simmering, you'll participate in a sangria-making workshop and sample traditional tapas.
Finally, sit down to savor your own creation, accompanied by local wine, salad, mistela, and homemade dessert.
✓ Dessert, coffee, and mistela✓ Tomato salad✓ A selection of tapas✓ Sangria, wine, beer, soft drinks, or water✓ All ingredients and cooking equipment✕ The Ruzafa Market is closed on Sundays, so no market visit will take place.Activity Schedule

We will meet at the door of San Valero Parish. We will go to the Ruzafa market together and we will make the purchase of the fresh products necessary to cook a good paella. While we are making the purchase we will tell you the origin of the paella and customs and culture of the Valencian people.
Later we will walk for 8 minutes to reach the kitchen where we will hold a sangria workshop. The chef will be waiting us with some delicious tapas accompanied by sangria, beer, water ... Then our chef will explain step by step the preparation of a seafood paella and once finished we will sit down to taste it. We will accompany the paella with a Valencian tomato salad, Valencia wines, seasonal fruit, typical Valencian sponge cake, sweet wine and coffee.
Your ticket can be presented as a mobile or paper copy. One ticket is required per booking.

Simply Paella-licious!

What an absolutely fantastic seafood paella experience! The paella was delicious, our chef Cristina was wonderful, and our group was simply amazing. We laughed, cooked, shared great food, and had such a memorable time together!
After my previous Mallorcan paella experience, this was a wonderful contrast. The entire Michelin team was fantastic, and I genuinely loved the energy, warmth, and camaraderie—especially with Chef Cristina.
I cannot recommend this experience highly enough! If you love paella, great food, and a fun, welcoming atmosphere, this is a must-do. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Don't Miss this Fun & Engaging Activity in the Heart of Valencia

This was an extraordinary activity. My adult daughter and I were traveling in Spain and looking for fun, out of the ordinary activities, and came upon this class. We loved that it didn't take us to the Central Market, but instead took us to a market more popular among locals. We were running late, and our guides were so hospitable and kind about this. The time flew, as they provided us with delicious tapas and Sangria, plus engaging us in the cooking. I am now home and plan to make paella for my family, knowing I can do it from this tour.
