Five listings on WizardTrip show what to do in Dubai beyond the desert. The lineup covers Abu Dhabi, the old town, the souks, a yacht and a water park.

Together they have more than 33,000 reviews, with ratings from 4.7 to 5.0 out of 5 (as of 18 October 2026). This article compares lengths, meals, rules and cancellation, then helps you decide based on your time and your travel companions.

What to do in Dubai beyond the desert: what you need to know

Confirmation is instant on all five listings. Cancellation is fully refunded up to 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. The Abu Dhabi excursion and the half-day in the old town pick you up at your hotel. The other three set a meeting point, with an optional transfer for the souks.

As for languages, the Abu Dhabi and old town listings state French-speaking guides. The souks listing offers German, English and Italian. The cruise plays an English audio commentary, and Aquaventure has no guide.

Abu Dhabi in a day: Grand Mosque, palace and Etihad Towers

The Abu Dhabi excursion has the most reviews of the five: 10,473, with a rating of 4.9 out of 5. It lasts 9 to 10 hours, pickup and return included, depending on traffic. The small-group options state 9 hours in French, Italian and English, and 10 hours in Spanish.

The program allots about 1.5 hours at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and a 15-minute photo stop at the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Next come the Qasr Al Watan palace (1.5 hours) and the terrace of the Etihad Towers, on the 74th floor (1 hour). Admission to the mosque, the palace and the towers is included, but not to the Louvre.

Pickup is free from hotels, apartments and cruise terminals in Dubai, 0 to 40 minutes after the time you choose. Lunch is at your own expense, in the mosque’s restaurants. Water is unlimited.

The Qasr Al Watan palace can close without notice during presidential events. As for the towers, a 4-out-of-5 review from August 2026 voices a doubt. It writes: “it’s a shame to sell the Etihad Towers visit as part of the program when they have been closed to the public for some time.” The listing nevertheless includes the terrace: check this point before booking. A 3-out-of-5 review from February 2026 describes a two-hour wait in the sun outside the palace.

Old Dubai, Blue Mosque and souks: two tours to compare

Two listings cover old Dubai: a half-day by vehicle and a 3-hour walk with tastings.

The half-day with the Blue Mosque

The tour of old and new Dubai lasts 4 to 5 hours, pickup and return included, for 20 people at most. It has 5,034 reviews and a rating of 5.0 out of 5. Pickup is from 8 am to 8:45 am, or from 2 pm to 2:45 pm on Fridays.

The program allots 10 minutes for photos facing the Burj Al Arab, then 45 minutes at the Blue Mosque. The mosque is modeled on the Blue Mosque in Istanbul and can hold 2,000 worshippers, according to the listing. The Museum of the Future gets 15 minutes, with access to its ground floor.

In the old town, the tour passes through Al Fahidi and the gold and spice souks. It includes an abra crossing of the Creek and 30 minutes at Al Khayma Heritage House, with coffee, dates and rugag bread. The listing warns that there is walking and crowds in the souks.

The souks and the Creek on foot, with tastings

The souks tour with tastings, titled “Aladdin’s Tour” in the listing, lasts 3 hours for 15 people at most. It has 4,573 reviews and a rating of 4.9 out of 5. The meeting point is at the entrance to the Al Seef Heritage Hotel, near the Sharaf DG metro station. The tour ends at the exit of the Gold Souk, in Deira.

The program runs through Al Seef, the Creek, Al Fahidi, the Dubai Museum and the old souk. An abra crossing then leads to Deira, for 30 minutes at the Spice Souk and a walk through the Gold Souk. Four options exist:

  • Reduced price: no tastings, with Arabic coffee, water, abra and admission.
  • Premium: shawarma or falafel, fresh juice, chai tea and chocolate dates.
  • Premium with transfers: pickup and drop-off added.
  • Private: unlimited tastings, skip-the-line access to the museums, extended abra ride.

The listing’s data indicate a possible cancellation in bad weather or for lack of participants. A May 2026 review, rated 1 out of 5, says nobody showed up at the meeting point.

Yacht cruise at the marina: from morning to sunset

The shared yacht cruise holds 30 people at most and lasts 1 to 3 hours. It has 7,927 reviews, with a rating of 4.8 out of 5. The meeting point is behind the Al Majara towers, 30 minutes before departure.

In the morning, there are two 2-hour cruises: 9 am to 11 am with pastries, or 10 am to noon with breakfast. At midday, two 2-hour cruises with barbecue. At sunset, 2 hours (5:30 pm to 7:30 pm) or 3 hours (4 pm to 7 pm) with barbecue. The one-hour cruise includes no meal.

Only the 3-hour afternoon cruise and the extended sunset version sail past the Atlantis. The Ain Dubai observation wheel, on Bluewaters Island, is now closed, according to the listing. The commentary is an English audio, and alcohol is bought at the check-in desk.

A 3-out-of-5 review from September 2026 regrets the lack of shade on the upper deck. The listing states that the yacht may change depending on the weather.

Aquaventure: a day at the Atlantis water park

The Aquaventure day pass gives access to the Atlantis, The Palm water park from 9:30 am until sunset, with no fixed time slot. It has 5,750 reviews and a rating of 4.7 out of 5. The listing states more than 105 slides, rides and experiences.

Two options exist: the park alone, or the combined ticket with The Lost Chambers aquarium (21 exhibits, 65,000 marine animals). The ticket includes the Surf’s Up wave machine and the private beach. Food, drinks, Aqua Xpress fast-track access, photos and transport are not included. The printed voucher is exchanged at the ticket office.

Reviews praise the slides but are divided on the aquarium. “Don’t waste your money on the aquarium,” writes Louise (4 out of 5, in July 2025). A 1-out-of-5 review from September 2026 finds it pleasant but judges the park poorly designed.
